For those who are still looking for the 150K offer link, try googling (or use whatever your search engine is) "frequent flyer american express platinum". The FrequentFlyer website will be about halfway down the results page, click on that one. The FrequentFlyer website has an active referral link that worked for me. Instant approval.
I used an incognito window just to be sure, but the link seems to also work in my regular window when neither the regular window nor the incognito worked before.
Note 1: Someone named "Ann" will get credit for using the referral.
Note 2: I forgot to print out the card agreement, so I failed to verify the 150K offer. I just assumed that the offer from the application page applied (not smart of me to assume). I guess I'll find out when the card is delivered on Monday.
Does the annual fee count towards the $6k spend requirements?
No, it does not.*
*Officially, the annual fee doesn't count as a purchase. However, I've had other cards (Chase Sapphire Preferred) where the bank says that the annual fee doesn't count, but they nonetheless counted it toward the minimum spend requirement. Go figure!
I just got this @ 150k. Just wondering what people's thoughts are on holding this as a primary card or should i close this after a year.... After getting the bonus of the 150k.... I know there were some previous comments about this stuff but wanted to see if people could say what they plan on doing with this card? Cheers!
I currently have a gold card. My offer to upgrade is only 100k. If I apply through a referral will it upgrade my gold or will I have both cards? If both, can I call Amex and have my gold removed (canceled, upgraded, whatever) and my wife's gold can become the secondary on my platinum? Or if I call Amex will they give me the 150k and 10x restaurants offer the referral link has?
I tried referral link many times but didn't get 125 or 150k points offer. Then randomly tried just incognito tab and 150k point offer appeared and I applied. I will lose on additional gas and grocery spend bonus but just 150k points is good with me!
Just as an FYI, if you go through the entire application and submit it, a screen pops up letting you know you aren't eligible for the welcome offer and you can cancel the application if you want to.
They made it difficult to track and maximize the included benefits. I would love to connect on a forum where tips can be shared. Just found that you can buy $50 gift card at Saks every 6 months and consolidate them to buy something decent there... lol

For most folks this card does not make sense to keep year over year.
Though it might make sense to keep ONE extra year if you get a good retention offer (Amex usually doesn't give great ones multiple years in a row).
There are exceptions to that- and have been discussed in some detail already earlier in the thread (mostly either if you fly a lot AND have a centurion lounge at your home airport and/or if you're in the rare group that can get full value out of nearly ALL the various weird credits)
