I personally own this bladesafe. It fits all my chefs knives, santoku, nakiri, and utility knives up to 8" blade, from high-end Japanese and German knives to inexpensive Victorinox and Mercer knives, with or without full bolster. Very nicely made from quality plastic with 2 clickable locks securely keeping the edge inside. Highly recommended if you need to take your knives to a picnic or camping trip.

The case holds the Victorinox Fibrox Straight Edge Chef's Knife, 8-Inch perfectly, but the rubber holders leave 4 black marks on the blade which are very hard to clean off. This requires me to wash the knife again before I use it after already washing it before I put it away. Very poor design!!! Tossed in in the garbage and am using the plastic slip it came with. Don't bother...
I have this and I don't "toss" my knives in a drawer, I place them and it's perfectly fine.
That would work for me if I didn't have a wife...

Regardles if you have just one knife, or many, tossing it/them in a drawer with just a blade protector on it or them that has ANY part of the knife exposed, WILL damage the knife!

Victorinox makes great low cost knives, but this product is a bad idea. Two words, Knife Block.

I don't think it should leave black marks, I have one and it leaves transparent smudges where the holder pieces touched the knives but I hardly even notice. Unless you have OCD or something, don't really have to wash it again.

Maybe you got a defective product?

There's a reason I keep my wusthof classic knives away from the rest. Coincidentally, the Victorinox chef knife is the "stunt double" — throw it in the drawer, dishwasher, IDGAF.

To its credit, it takes the abuse extremely well. After 5+ years of non-stop abuse, it shows little sign of damage and is still the best knife in the kitchen (besides the aforementioned Wusthofs)

I loosely wrap a paper towel around the knife before placing knife in case, to keep the marks from appearing. Been using the same towel for many years.

I have two of these and the black rubber pieces agree that they leave smudges like you said. I've never seen black marks. Though I just took them out entirely since the edge of my chef's knife still barely comes into contact with anything that way.

I don't think it's good idea to keep knife in a drawer, use the dedicated knife block, but if one must use a drawer, it's more to protect your fingers, not the blades.

Bought these last Sept .was 10 cents cheaper.
I just ordered two more. These are actually quite good for camp kitchen boxes. There are limited ways to store your knives when space is at a premium

I've also never seen black marks from mine, not even any smudges that I've noticed. I've had it for 5 years or so and I love it, it holds the blade nice and secure.

I have used these knife safes for nearly 20 years now and they are perfectly good for storing knives in drawers with.

Knife blocks are terrible because you cannot effectively clean them. These are plastic and rubber and very easy to clean with a sanitizing solution.

Have this w/ my 8 inch fibrox for about 7ish years now. Incredibly bulky. The bulk is rather impractical for storage, especially in a knife roll. Good for transport I guess, if you're only carrying a single knife. Rubber holders didn't leave any black markings or smudges like other guy. I prefer the felt lined plastic sleeves/covers over this(note that non-modern fibrox handle design doesn't allow for full edge coverage with the way most of the plastic sleeves are designed.) Can't say I'd recommend, but it does do its job.
