Man Dyson makes too many models. Do they make a model and then when a new version comes out they just make the new one more expensive and keep the old one around? I can't tell if should step up to the V10 or not.
Agreed. I used to recommend Dyson to everyone, but now I can't do that because I don't know the difference among all the models.
It's the soft roller that really makes the difference for hard surfaces…it's really the main key piece. I did extensive research in the past up until they released the V10.

The V8 battery life is significantly less then the V10 along with the price tag. Otherwise their are small nuanced differences. The absolute versions include both the brush roller head and soft roller. The attachments in these higher tier versions (absolute vs their basic) are really overkill.

For battery life think about how long your actually vaccum on time will be….it ends up not being a lot. Ex I bought 2 dyson refurbished (eBay) v6 absolutes for $280 + tax 4 years ago. I have 2200sqft with 50/50 carpet/hard wood… between the both of them it's enough to do the whole place. One is dying very soon.

If I recall correctly, after the V6 most of the next versions had The major issues worked out (easier to empty bin, HEPA filter etc).

I would go v10, I just bought v10 animal from Costco for $380 and the little research I did plus using it tells me it's worth it to step up from v8.

V10 runs longer, charges faster, more powerful brush, stronger suction, bigger dust bin and weighs the same. All of those being significant differences by comparison it's also less awkward to handle since they place the dustbin in line with the tube and many said the trigger is much easier to hold.

Eveyrone talks about fluffy brush head. How are they for lots of long dog hair?

When does it goes on sale in Costco, I always see regular price or V10 in store. Did you bought online ?

We have a beagle and a vizsla with a v8. We have to do a quick sweep of hard floors b4 using the fluffy. While the fluffy does great for dander and smaller amounts of hair, larger amounts prove to be enough of an issue that we use a broom. And obviously we don't use the fluffy head on rugs/carpet. Also one needs to be wary of small rocks etc.... with the fluffy as if they get caught up they will scratch surfaces.

The nice thing about Dyson is the prevalence of cheap 3rd party batteries! If what you meant your battery is dying.

Seems like Dysons go on sale pretty frequently. So no serious need to hop on these sales right? next one will pop up soon

Can anyone speak to using a V10 vs earlier models when using a crevice tool? I have a much older V? that I use several times a week, but mostly with the crevice tool for inside the car or behind the dog bowl or something like that. The V10 design looks like it would be really long and unwieldy with that type of tool. Thanks.

Any you would recommend? I've had a hard time finding a good one, and Dyson branded is $150 w/tax/shipping. That's just nuts.

Considering how old the v8 model is, this should be under $200 by now. With this model, I hope your use is only using it for hard surfaces or light cleaning. IMO this is not a replacement for a real vacuum. The v11 on the other hand is could be the replacement.

Agree on pricing. I purchased two V7 fluffy last year for $200 each. Disagree about not being replacements. The V7s can tackle everything except for what you might want a shopvac for. Presumably V8s are even better.

I agree and v8 is the one to get. Combine this and Milwaukee 12amp battery, I can easily clean 4k+ sqft without worrying about power. Adapter is less than 30.
