Man Dyson makes too many models. Do they make a model and then when a new version comes out they just make the new one more expensive and keep the old one around? I can't tell if should step up to the V10 or not.
Agreed. I used to recommend Dyson to everyone, but now I can't do that because I don't know the difference among all the models.
It's the soft roller that really makes the difference for hard surfaces…it's really the main key piece. I did extensive research in the past up until they released the V10.

The V8 battery life is significantly less then the V10 along with the price tag. Otherwise their are small nuanced differences. The absolute versions include both the brush roller head and soft roller. The attachments in these higher tier versions (absolute vs their basic) are really overkill.

For battery life think about how long your actually vaccum on time will be….it ends up not being a lot. Ex I bought 2 dyson refurbished (eBay) v6 absolutes for $280 + tax 4 years ago. I have 2200sqft with 50/50 carpet/hard wood… between the both of them it's enough to do the whole place. One is dying very soon.

If I recall correctly, after the V6 most of the next versions had The major issues worked out (easier to empty bin, HEPA filter etc).

The reason the v8 is kept around is that lots of people like the older style more. My mom for instance like that the v8 is much lighter and she doesn't need the extra power (and extra cost). If stain retired v8, she'd switch to shark or tineco.

Why Dylan keeps v10 around when they have v11 is just dumb

this might be helpful for some, although it's for the V7 I think it should be the same case for all V8's and it's different model. https://youtu.be/VTAb3h79M9w

How is it compared to Samsung Jet90 from Costco?

I would say utility score out of 10 going from corded heavy vacuum to Samsung is equivalent of going from 4 to 7. Going from Samsung to Dyson is equivalent from going 7 to 8.

I don't think that 1 point difference is worth $100+ premium. Also considering when these things are dropped accidently on hard surface... they can break. ie when propped up, when giving them to your children or when you are accidently doing maintenance tasks and are clumsy.

I got the Samsung jet at major discount under $250 a few months back. other family got the jet 60 for $100. I personally wouldn't get the Costco jet for $500 or Dyson at that price. in that respect, if you were looking to spend that much, go for this deals Dyson.

I bought the tineco as we have mojority hard floors. I've never owned a Dyson or stick vac before. But I can tell you we love our tineco a11 tango we bought from Amazon. I got the tango because it come with the soft roller for hard floors. It's been great. Things I like are the 3 speed settings. I'll use speed 1 or 2 to save battery and it's more than enough to pick up things. I'll use speed 3 on carpet if need be. Soft roller still works well on carpet as long as you're not trying to deep clean. If so I'll switch to the regular roller to do that. But regular roller and speed 3 I will warn you will eat the battery pretty fast. I think I've got 20+ min on speed 2 and soft roller. Plenty of time to hit my hard floors and then some.

I also have the Tineco A11 for 4 years now and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Here's why... I have mostly hardwood and soft roller does an awesome job at picking everything up. This may seem so minor, but it functions amazing... it has a led light that illuminate all dirt and hair on the floor. Dyson finally caught up to this function in their latest model, which is around $600. The triggered can BE LOCKED... OMG, such an easy concept but really beneficial especially if you are vacuuming for a long time. This is a major reason why you should consider Tineco. Everything single component of the vacuum can be replaced. From the filter, trash bin, even the rolling head, it can al be replaced. Oh, did I mention that the battery can also be replaced!! Dyson can't do that. THE WARRANTY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM TINECO IS BY FAR THE BEST THING! After a year and 8 months, my motorhead and battery started to give out. Called Tineco and they sent both brand new parts for free!! GO WITH TINECO!

I used to buy Dyason. Now I don't anymore for two reasons. First Dyson's batteries didn't live up to the high prices. Both my D7 and D8 are useless now because of dead batteries and it is hard and expensive to find replacement OEM batteries. Second, there are many other brands out there with similar functions and lower prices. I recently bought a Shark cordless vacuum for about $150. It has been working great for about half a year. If the machine works for a year or longer, I would consider it a better choice than Dysons. Finger crossed.

Why are you trying to buy OEM when you said "Dyson batteries don't live up to the high prices?" After tearing down one of their battery packs, they have cells with their brand name on it. Never heard of them manufacturing batteries which leads me to believe they're using cheap Chinese cells, which explain their lack of performance/longevity. There's plenty of sellers on eBay or Amazon that actually use good name brand cells like Sony. Bought a couple replacements for $20/each & back in business.

I have a V10 and I want to get the Fluffy roller head attachment. It costs $100+ on Amazon. Is there away to get one cheaper? it's like 1/3 of the cost of this vacuum. Thank you!
Look on the dyson.com website. I ordered mine for almost half price of amazon, ships in 5-7 days.

Is this better than LG A916 I bought from Costco for $349? I am going to use vacuum on hardwood and tile only.

The only thing better about it is that it comes with the fluffy head. Unfortunately the lg version runs for a premium right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/39406596...SwWZJieGaf

Anyone successfully added "extended" aftermarket battery to V8? I bought one with great skepticism on ebay for my ancient handheld V6 and it seems to be extended indeed.
would you mind telling which battery did you get for your V8. ?

I have a Dyson V6 Absolute. I will never buy another Dyson product. It just isn't very well designed or made so why pay a premium for a less than premium product? And I'd avoid anything that tries to copy Dyson for the same reason unless it's super cheap.

Dyson vacuums have strong suction but because they're made with brittle plastic they fall apart. And because they haven't designed the heads well they get clogged and gummed up in no time. Overpriced crap.

If i met James Dyson on the street I'd give him a high quality boot to the clinkers for being a twat.
