Need advice on All in One desktop computer

697 40 April 24, 2022 at 04:47 AM
I have a dell optiplex 9010 and it runs so slow after being on for awhile and freezes. I want to find a new All in One and need to know what to look for. I don't know anything about computers. We just do everyday browsing and some financial stuff, no gaming. I want to get one that will be fast.

If you wanted to keep it running there are two things I'd recommend:
1. Open it up and blow out the dust with a gas duster. Built up dust could be causing it to overheat.
2. Consider replacing the hard drive, transfer everything over to a new SSD and replace the old HDD.

I often prefer a separate monitor and pc to an all in one.

This all-in-one is currently front page:

Well you could open the back and see if it has dust in it.

The dell all in ones are pretty nice, I am typing on a Optilplex 5250 i7 16 GB RAM 3.7 GHz

Dell outlet has this one for 800 bucks 24" model

Inspiron 24 5000 (5400) All-in-One
Tech Specs
Intel Core 11th Generation i7-1165G7 Processor (Quad Core, Up to 4.70GHz, 12MB Cache)
Windows 11 Home
1TB 2.5inch SATA 512e Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
256GB PCIe M.2 NVMe Class 35 Solid State Drive
16GB (2X8GB) Up to 3200MHz DDR4 SoDIMM Non-ECC
NVIDIA GeForce MX330 2GB GDDR5
Dell Outlet Inspiron 24 - 5400 All-In-One

You might want to look at getting a desktop and monitor unless space is tight. I have mine on a desktop space in the kitchen so space is tight for me.

get a SSD and 16 GB of RAM if it only has 8Gb make sure it can be upgraded.

Honestly, all in ones are generally not good buys as they often lack upgrade-ability. You are better off buying a regular desktop and monitor\HD TV.

Do you think this one from the outlet is a good choice?

i recommend a laptop + monitor (if needed) over an AIO.
Price should be comparable and also a lot more portable if you need or want to move it.

Thanks for reply. The one you mention at the outlet looks pretty good.. Is the outlet a good place to buy and is the Inspiron as good as Optiplex? My Optiplex is i5 and only 6

The screen is the main thing I'd be worried about on a refurb and it's most likely fine. Just make sure you understand the terms of the return policy.

refurbished is fine I have attached a list of all the computers I have purchased from Dell
I honestly cannot recall one of them being purchased new.

I have not had an issue with any of the systems to speak of, I have purchased servers for the
Federal Government that were refurbished with no issue.

Well one time Dell did send me the wrong server it was very close to the one that I had ordered. I contacted Dell and they were willing to do whatever I wanted as far as making it better. I decided to keep the Server as it had more RAM than the one that I ordered.

I also mostly buy refurbished dells. However, for monitors I almost exclusively do buy new.

I ended up getting one of the refurbished All in One so we'll see. I always get refurbished phones and never had a problem. It also came with a year warranty and I added another year. Thanks for the help

You will be fine, my understanding is that anything that is returned that has a bad motherboard or some other issue is pretty much taken apart and each part is tested then put back together some stuff that is marked as refurbished may have been demo equipment or used for classroom or seminar etc.

You have a better chance of a DOA on a new one since they do not turn on every computer, the refurbs each one is tested at the component level and as a whole. That is why they offer the same warranty as new. Some companies offer 60 or 90 day warranties and that shows their confidence in their products.
