yes, 12GB is enough for most things.
But THIS laptop has 8GB, with a maximum of 8GB supported
Maximum of 64GB Supported my friend. If you're seeing that Walmart Product page, don't rely on them. It has two user replaceable Ram slot and each can be replaced with a single 32GB stick, totaling 64GB. In any Laptops released in last 7/8 years or even more, the maximum Ram capacity is determined by the total memory supported by the CPU and the number of available Ram slots. Ryzen 4000 and 5000 series Laptop CPUs support maximum of 64GB and it has two slots, so you can go with that and that is true for any Laptops based on these Processors.
In lot of cases, you'll see Product page says maximum of 32GB but that's actually the maximum capacity they sells the laptop with, not the maximum supported.
My cousin has the early 2021 model with Ryzen 7 4700U and he actually purchased it from HP and configured with single 4GB stick to minimize the cost and updated it with 16GBX2 configuration. He runs couple of VMs and needs that high ram capacity.
Are you sure this has an IPS display? I avoided it a few days back based on this YouTube review that shows it's poor screen. https://youtu.be/KROTKE61WtM

This is a great deal especially if you do light gaming. No this is not for regular gaming.
