Pretty bad reviews but since most mention it's being slow it's most likely due to mechanical hard drive so be prepared to install M.2 SSD to gain good speeds, while mechanical can be still used as storage (install m.2, use program to copy the old drive then erase old one for storage which should be pretty simple). As far as CD/DVD it would just add extra weight and nowadays getting used rarely IMO.
As far as no touchscreen…..complaining for its price of $300 is….
It has full HD 15.6" lcd, 11th gen Intel i3 CPU, backlit keyboard, option for M.2 drive and while 8gb is basic it's still more than most of the laptops below $400 offer (it has 4GB soldered and one sodimm available with 4GB in it so 8GB stick or maybe even 16GB can be added).
WiFi supports AX 2x2 as well as Bluetooth 5.1

Based on this review [laptopmedia.com], the RAM is upgradable and it does have a sd card reader. There is also an additional M.2 slot for ssd.

I agree with the other comments. Out of the box, this laptop will be slow and offer a poor user experience due to the mechanical hard drive. If you have the technical savvy to add a SSD drive into the M2 slot, install Windows on the SSD, then format the 1 TB mechanical drive for extra storage, then this will become a solid machine with good performance for the price. You can get a 240 GB M2 SSD for around $40 to $50.

There is nothing wrong with mechanical hard drives and they work perfectly fine (the computer I'm using right now has a HDD from 8 years ago). Because of the numerous poor reviews on this model, I'm guessing there is an issue on this specific model with either the bloatware that Lenovo installs or a specific driver - bu don't blame it on a mechanical hard drive.

It doesn't make sense to buy this laptop and then spend $50 putting in an SSD - for $350 you can already get an i3 11th generstion laptop that has an SSD in it.

The appeal here is you can buy a 256 gb SSD for around $40 and put in the empty M2 slot. The leaves the 1 Tb mechanical drive available for storage. That extra 1 Tb of storage can be very valuable for some. Of course, this is assuming you have the ability to add the M2 drive yourself.
But that ASSUMES the issue here is the hard drive, which I am skeptical of. I have plenty of computers that have old HDD's in them and none of them exhibit the symptoms in the reviews reference like taking a long time to pull up a web page.

My guess is that there is something else going on in this specific model. This is probably why Office Depot is trying to get rid of these laptops. I have followed Office Depot deals for a long time, and when they have a really good price like this, usually the deal is sold out in a few hours. From the fact that this deal is still up 2 days later tells me they just want to get rid of the stock of this model which they know has issues and move on.

I'll keep an eye out for an m.2. I'm giving it to a family member, so I'll try to get a samsung or similar.

Deals just keep popping up, what do you think about this:
I don't see that price. Is that the correct link?

I agree that bloatware or a driver could also be the problem. I also think that mechanical hard drives are quite slow by today's standards. The difference in performance between HDD and SSD is HUGE. Either way, adding a SSD and performing a fresh install of windows will fix the issue... weather it's the slow hard drive, bloatware, or a driver issue.

I agree that you can often find a similar spec laptop with a SSD for around $350, but the SSD is typically 256 GB. Like I said in my prior post, for someone who needs extra storage, this deal gives you a 1 Tb drive for storage in addition to the SSD for around the same $350 price. Not all laptops offer a second HD bay, so there is some value to that with this deal.

The m.2 slot doesn't appear to be full size. That will limit you in the type of storage to upgrade. It has only one memory upgrade. So it won't run in true dual channel.

What do you mean by full size? Not 2280? Is it NVME?

Had a dual core i3. Added a ssd on it. Apps were still laggy opening ten seconds after double clicking. It's the slow cpu. This i3, being the same dual core it is would be the same result.
Which gen of i3 did you have? This 1115 only has two cores but has a faster speed than the 4 core 1125G4 which is at 2GHz

This just shows that you can't even read. As specs PDF shows either 2242 OR 2280 can be used, if you're using different size NVME then that might be "not standard".

I bought this laptop today, and can confirm it has a 2280 nvme slot. For those wondering, it also has a 2x2 Intel AX201 card. Not a bad deal at $300.

For lightly threaded tasks suitable for 2c/4t this chip runs at fairly high clocks all the time.

I often hit 3.9Ghz on mine. What I am saying is it is very responsive.

Any NVMe drive will improve this computer to a huge degree.

Someone just said it takes the 2280. The laptop review site made it seem like it only took the half length m.2

Are you sure? People who bought it say there's a 2280 nvme slot.

Just an FYI... one of the popular cash back sites is currently offering 6% back for Office Depot. No need for a browser extension or any of the other BS that SD makes you jump through to earn their 1% in "SD Rewards".
