There's stories about that with every major manufacturer these days.
Just get a model with features you want, a decent warranty, and in the price range you want.

Not a good deal if your fridge breaks down after some short time. Just had an LG repaired yesterday for a failed compressor (evaporator coil was full of liquid). Idiot companies that cut corners on parts and then spend more than a brand new fridge on repairs.

I have a current LG going on 5 years and was repaired 3 times and one time it was fixed out of warranty because of the class action suit. I love their look and design but 3 times it failed on me cooling

Compressor 10 years
Parts and Labor 1 year

This has a linear inverter compressor. Is this a different or a new version compressor vs the older ones with high failure rates? 10 year Warranty seems they have confidence?

I was qouted 500 in labor by an lg rep. They did offer to cover the parts though, so there is that. Worst part is the down time without a fridge.

They get the parts for free. LG does pay for replacement parts. Samsung has a icemaker lawsuit they sale a $200+ ice maker " rebuild it " then you have to pay me to install it. For a 100% design flaw by Samsung. They also changed the rebuild kit after 2 years. So i assume the original kits are messing up.

Yes. I 100% believe they are using the same compressor as before. Just changed the label. Techs have a usb stick that updates the electronic control board. I think thats just bullshit too. A show to make it seem like they've done something.

Both replacements in my case were factory new, I know because I sat and watched the technician install them. I'm therefore convinced it's a faulty design.

It's been two years since I dealt with it, but as of then LG was using the same compressor, there hadn't been a recall that I was aware of.

My compressor just died on my Samsung but had mine for 10 years. I say it was worth it. Just ordered another Samsung. Every brand has its issues from Appliances to cars to tvs. Thats why things come with warranty.
