Yeah same situation and will be returning. I didn't even charge it up to see how long the battery would last, which I figured might be the deal breaker. The bezel was scuffed up, there was a scratch on the glass, and chip on the edge of the glass that you could feel if you touched it. No thanks.
Samsung specifically state that no scratches front and back, to qualify for trade in.
