Get the Hercules from harbor freight on sale. Better saw than this model.The blade on this is subpar.
That's like buying a car based on it's tires. I would personally buy the Hercules over this if I had to. Although I would not buy either and just save for the 12 inch sliding DeWalt saw.

Not sure what a sale price would be, but for $300 today [harborfreight.com], most will choose the same price OP DeWalt.

Nevertheless, HF now has a variety of miter saws [harborfreight.com]. At $389 or less, that Hercules slider may be worth taking a look at.... or not.

A couple years ago we bought a slider 12" Chicago Electric for $100 on sale as a throwaway to leave on the roof for a job. Not particularly accurate, it lasted the job and still working, it is the one I loan out.

If it fits your budget, I'd get the sliding one (though people have pretty mixed views on the DWS779)

I saw that earlier and pondered shipping as a gift. It is all the saw the majority of homeowners and DIYers would ever need, but a bit uncertain about the ability, the adjustability to 'tune' the saw for perfect cuts. And then there is the shorter warranty on refurbished. Perhaps for someone that uses occasionally, a Ridgid with their LSA would be a better option, but that Ryobi refurbished for $100 delivered is appealing. Still, a 'Helpful' for posting a reminder... thanks.
I would only recommend that ryobi for rough outdoor carpentry, like a deck or fence. There is a lot of play in the rails and pretty much impossible to get a straight cut if you need to slide. Of course you could cut oversized and clean up on a shooting board or something similar, but who's going to bother with that when you can get a good cut with another tool? Mine probably hasn't been off the shelf in over a year.

In other words, it's typical Ryobi.

Who cares about the blade quality?

I don't own the Ryobi, nor have I ever used one, so have no idea if any slop can be tightened up or compensated for while also using a decent blade with stabilizers.

=============
Having used radial arm saws since I was a kid, they will also have some slop if forced that does not take much. Just something you learn how to compensate for when blade is on top by being neutral on force applied. I have also noticed that some people can get some slop out of the DeWalt we have when fully extended and for that matter, any that have the slide rods out the back by how they use the saw. Mark a board or whatever and you can easily move the blade line left or right on most when extended. That is why a lot of people, including myself, push the saw to make a kerf on the cut line. And of course, with a neutral or positive raked tooth blade that is the most common sold, initially pushing stops the blade from climbing or off tracking as it does when pulled.

Having worked with some junk tools in the past, I am not positive that the Ryobi slider is as bad as many claim.... but shipping as a gift, I would never know and not yet convinced to spend a $100 delivered to self (for something I don't need) to just prove it to myself. Smilie

Everyone should care about blade quality and more important, the correct blade for the tool and what you are cutting. The correct blade can make a junk saw cut better than a quality saw with the wrong blade.
