Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

Yes, but not now, right? I don't see any deal on this one right now. Only deal I see on TMO is free with new line, even with Max plan, and if I'm getting a new line, I'm getting a flagship. . .

If this current deal isn't for you (meaning anyone, not just you PW), I would say wait until Friday to see what pops up.

BTW, does anybody have an idea what the big deal announcement coming May 4th, dubbed this deal doesn't even need a set up, and possibly 'May the 4th Be With You' related, entail??

Only thing I can think of is a deal for Disney+ if the date was intentionally set with Star Wars in mind

EDIT: nevermind. Looks like the "big event" is just to show how the newer home Gateway is basically plug-n-play, no setup needed. Lolz
N20 has a superior screen, more RAM, UFS storage, IP rating, and performs better. The 200 doesn't perform great, wish others have already echoed here. Sometimes being cheap doesn't pay off. If you have kids you'll learn the importance of IP ratings one day.

Lol, some of us pay less than $15 per line for Magenta Max. So for me, everything you said above is garbage. I grab these "free with any trade" phones just to have as backup or to use as wifi devices around the house. Since I'm on MMax, and not an MVNO, I also grab free with trade flagship phones as well. Since I feel I have a good deal on my plan, I never go griping about bill credits or being locked down for 24 months. . .as it doesn't matter to me
It's probably been asked, but how on earth did you get Magenta Max for $15/line? I've seen crazy deals people have posted on Reddit but not for the latest and greatest plans. I'm sure you're telling the truth I just don't get how you did it.

I'm so annoyed with my Pixel 6 that I'm tempted to get this just to try it out. I have spare phones to trade in. I came from a OnePlus 6t which I loved and am disappointed with the Pixel 6. I've heard OnePlus has gone downhill. Think it's worth a try?

Only 64 GB? Pass
The bare minimum today should be 128 GB.

I have been using the N200 for about 1.5 years. Does everything I need it to do. I never buy the latest and greatest expensive phones.

While 128 GB is obviously preferable, 64 GB is adequate, so long as you can add an SD card for storing photos and media.

I think the 4GB RAM might be more of a limiting factor because it may impact performance across the board, especially if/when this phone updates to Android 12.

I get you on it's a better phone. Just saying the timing/deal isn't right for the N20 right now, as no deals other than free ABC w new line. Maybe they throw an N20 or A53 deal for Mother's day if they don't do a flagship. As it stands, at this moment, I would do a 0P10P or S22 base for Free ABC and a $150 trade donor, over the N20, as those are the current deals at hand. Something will come up on Friday for Max plans. . .

Yeah, have a handful of rugrats. They're all too old to throw one in the toilet or tub etc. anymore. All but one get better phones, either used or they pay for the trade donor. . .knowing full well that if they break it they have to resort to one from the junk phone drawer for the next year or so (or pay for the fix/replacement) lol. The 5th gets cheaper phones because they don't know any better, other than they messed up, which is why I stocked up on A32's last year.

I lived on a boat in Cali for a year back in my younger days, flip phone era, and didn't learn about IP ratings per se; but definitely experienced drop, plop, gone to the abyss enough times (both phones and shades, etc.) to take precautions since, and stress those lessons learned to the youngers.

You probably won't be able to reproduce their plans anytime soon (or if at all). They must have stacked those employee % discount + several free lines that tmo was giving out from 2019-2020 (?)... or something to that degree.

The n200 has expandable memory via micro SD card up to 512 GB. Pretty much like every other sub $250 phone. This is not your $1000- $1200 Samsung S or iphone # whatever top end phones.

Just to make sure I'm interpreting this right.

Essentially T-Mobile lending us the $216 and asking us to make 24 monthly payments of $9.

With each monthly payment, instead of us paying an additional $9, they apply a "promo credit" of $9 to cancel it out?

So we shouldn't see any change to our monthly bill right?
In a round about way, Correct. I did this offer last year for both my wife and I, we now both have n200 backup phones ( our daily phones are one plus 8 and 8t) and credit is applied every month automatically and Not one red cent increase in my phone bill.

I have similar but on the One plan. I just don't see anyway the math adds up to get $15 a line on Magenta Max. I have One plan (8 lines One Plus free promo) with 9 lines, 3 free and the 20% hookup code applied and I'm at $126 before kickback kicks in or $14/line. Magenta Max is a much higher cost than the One plan. He either has almost every line free or the math is off as there's no kickback on Magenta Max. You also lose any promos switching plans. I definitely believe they're at $15/line average, but on Magenta Max? 🤔

Isn't there a Kickstarter sprint plan for 15 dollars a few years back? I am still kicking myself for not jumping on it because at the time I needed to have hotspot. Now I don't anymore, lol.

I have no problems with TMO between west coast cities. Coverage is ymmv
Rural Pennsylvania and rural Texas I've had very spotty coverage. AT&T I've rarely had lack of coverage, but I guess the tradeoff is AT&T is slower. Not that it matters much - I rarely use my phone for more than Tidal and Google Voice. I just need *some* data
