Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

If you're not on Tmobile, the phone definitely isn't free. It just becomes an expensive mid-range phone

Trying to sign up another phone and got this when I select "Got a different phone?"
I've tried multiple times, do you have this issue?

Just missing some of the newer LTE bands and 5g. The point of the offer is get their customers onto 5g and shutting and moving their 3g and LTE networks to 5g. Granted, that's going to take awhile.
As a fyi, call quality on 5G is no better than 4GLTE. Faster data on 5G, but for many, that's a non issue.

You know, I normally hate posts like this that tell people to stick with old options, but this is different. I use an LG V50 mainly, and it's great, but I also have a 128GB, unlocked V30 that STILL holds its own. I upgraded over a year ago so I could use Verizon prepaid 5G, but I literally never see 5G service where I live and work, and the V30 still does everything my V50 and newer phones do, and it does this very well. I generally buy 1 year-old or previous generation flagship phones, but you can get a V30 for dirt cheap and it will do 98% of what new $1000 phones can do, with a screen that looks pretty damn good.

So I agree. My next phone will probably be a Oneplus, since LG stopped making phones, but I see little point to buying lower midrange phones like this when older flagships are equivalent but cheaper. And yes, you are buying a Nord or something like this, even though it is "$0," since it is via bill credits for TWO YEARS. I'd much rather buy upfront and not be tied to a company or plan for that long. People will scoff at the idea of buying a V30 now, but it actually makes a lot of sense.
Pixel 3, 3XL or 4 can be had for new, cheap, have all the bands, and completely unlocked and bonus is a better camera.

I have got three free T-Mobile 5G phones.

1) Samsung Galaxy A32 5G
2) T-Mobile Revvl V+ 5G
3) OnePlus Nord N200 5G

Out of the three, I like the Oneplus the most.

The Samsung has just got updated to Android 12 by the way, while other two are still on Android 11.

So, T-Mobile is buying your loyalty for the next 24 months. This phone probably cost T-Mobile 50 dollars. Keeping us on post paid contract for 24th months must be a lot more lucrative over giving away a lousy phone (locked?).
This is true, but at least it's relatively painless to withdraw your loyalty with this deal. At worst, it may cost you a couple of hundred bucks.

Most people have a thousand dollars or more tied up in EIP's that would need to be paid off if they switched away from T-Mobile.

As for me, I've been with T-Mobile for 6 years now and have been generally satisfied. Every time I look at the offerings from other carriers, they are more expensive and I can't find any way to justify the extra expense.

I received my N200 yesterday, and I have to say that the phone is definitely usable. It's not stellar, but it's more than good enough for most people, unless you're picky about the camera.

I would be fairly satisfied with this phone if I paid $200 new. The fact that it's "free" would makes it a no-brainer.

My previous phone is/was an LG V60, which was basically their last flagship. Surprisingly, the N200 user experience is not dramatically worse than the V60. Other than the slightly smaller screen and the occasional lag, the N200 does everything I need it to do. I also just got a Oneplus 8T, and I'm contemplating returning it and just using the N200.

Almost the same here. Been with TM over 10+ yrs, not going anywhere, no contract, always pay off early so I can get on the next deal

Due to competition, US mobile phone market is among the worlds' best for the consumers.

In many parts of the world, you have to BUY the phone AND pay monthly service fee.

I am paying a reasonable monthly service fee for a necessity, the free phones are simply icing on the cake. I often use these "low end" phones as presents. Makes me feel good to be a "gifter" and recycler.

So this crap Nord N200 phone apparently is the best offer this Mother's Day from T-Mobile.
Just saw on Reddit that the other Mothers Day "deals" from T-Mobile are:

> $200 Port-In Credit: Port in an eligible competitor number to a new line on a MAX plan (or other premium plan like ONE Plus) and get a $200 bill credit
> Samsung Galaxy S21 FE for $99: Open a new line on an existing or new account and get a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE for $99 when purchased on EIP
> $0 down on Apple AirPods Pro or Beats Truly Wireless earbuds: Well qualified customers can buy either of these on EIP and pay $0 down

I too had to call customer service to order this (the website wouldn't go past "Tell us about your existing phone's condition" for me). Tell the customer rep that you want the ONLY 2022 ONEPLUS TRADE P5 promo. My rep kept confusing it with the UMTS 3G SHUTDOWN promo instead.

Under "Check Order Status" on the website (https://my.t-mobile.com/myphone/checkorder.html), the order has two parts. The second part is "Trade-In Device", and there's an option there for "Print Shipping Label" that has the label and instructions.
