PLEASE consider the Kindle Paperwhite 6.8 for kids [amazon.com] instead. It's also $120, comes without ads, a free cover ($30 value?), and an extra year warranty. All for exactly the same hardware as the regular Kindle Paperwhite. It has been pointed out that coupons that sometimes work on the regular Paperwhite usually don't on the Paperwhite for Kids, but the extra still makes up for that... usually.

Just FYI - Without ads is backordered 4-6 weeks.

You can also use code KINDLE2022 to stack an extra 15% on top of either + $15 Kindle credit

Or you can get the Paperwhite Kids for $119.99 which comes with no ads, 2 year warranty and can be used for adults. This one does not allow use of KINDLE2022 code.
Kindle2022 doesn't work for me.

Maybe mine is unpopular opinion but if you are getting 6 or 6.8" reader, might as well get the basic paperwhite backlit one and wait for a woot or refurb deal for $30-$40 range. It's my first ebook and I enjoy it tremendously. Seeing that this one doesn't have a button either, and it's basically same thing with a bit better resolution and light, I wouldn't pay $100+ for this (with or without ads). When will they release something like this for $100 range with buttons and better features? How is the processor on this, is it also slow to load menus etc?
How much do you value reading? The ability to access my public library and enjoy the interface I am using makes this so worth it. I would have to say that reading books have given me way more than saving 40-60 dollars. Of course, getting one and reading for a 30-40 dollars range is still valuable--I just find the responsiveness and screen so much better than my kids' 2014 version and even my wife's 7th gen paperwhite version.

I can't tell if the one on GameStop is the ad free version.
The ad supported version is $99-$105 from other major retailers. Link to ad supported deal is in the first comment

That's why price matched it from Best buy to get an ad free version for the same price

The processor is better. As is the battery life. Especially compared to a refurb.

That said, if you're not going to read on it for hundreds of hours, I agree, don't waste your money on an almost identical device.
