You can double down on this with a few manufacturers they carry who provide a lifetime warranty. I bought an Eagle Creek shoulder bag and wallet at REI 25 years ago. Wasn't happy with the bag and REI let me exchange it for a bigger model. 12 years later both had a broken zipper and non-functional velcro, and a seam on the bag had opened. Contacted Eagle Creek and they said send them in. Paid $5 for a USPS priority mail box (damn I miss those). A week later I got them back, new zippers, new velcro, seam re-stitched. They'd even replaced a patch in the wallet which was wearing thin but I hadn't complained about.
They may be popular with yuppies. But in this age of fly-by-night Internet-only companies with little to no support (whose Contact page lacks any way to actually contact them, and just sends you to their knowledge base or user forums), it's rare to find companies which honor their advertised support policies. Once you find one, you tend to stick with them.
