Thought I'll give it a try. Didn't have one at home and occassion shoot and travel with camera bag. Trying to take more videos and photos more to try new angles and photo styles.
Is this fine for stationary B Roll video? I know people say get tripods with fluid heads for motion video shots but I'm new at this and currently never incorporate motion anyway

Got this tripod in a combo deal from adorama last month. The head is suprisingly smooth for panning. I would still recommend a fluid head if you want any tilt motion in your video.
I haven't looked at tripods in awhile but I think this has a remarkable price to weight ratio. You can get serviceable aluminum tripods cheaper, but theyll be flimsier or heavier.
For anyone who wants to see the comments on the previous deal when this was $140. People seem quite happy with it at that price, so for $99 this seems like a great value:
How does this compare to see a $20 tripod from best buy? Don't they all do the same thing?
It depends on your needs and how much you'll use it. They can have different capacity's for different sized cameras, different weight for people who take theirs hiking, different heights for portraits etc. If you only need a casual tripod for photos or videos, a cheap one is fine.
But if photo or video is your hobby and you're invested, there's a chance you'll want something made of carbon fiber to bring the tripod around more easily. At a certain point, the gear that makes you use your other gear more often is best. And some people will absolutely benefit from upgrading the tripod or making it easier to carry.
I guess I'm gonna sell both my Manfrotto ones and replace with one.
So the Carbon Version is only ~0.15 lighter than the normal version?
They also seem to have anodized Alu but carbon is the better value in this case.
Also there don't seem to be any chase or Amex offer for Adorama…bummer.

Yes, probably overkill for a phone but if you have a standard tripod mount for phones, it will work on this.

Which Aluminum one are you comparing to?
