I have a crap load of USB-C cables that mixes and matches of 60W/100W, USB2/USB3, Alt Mode/Non-Alt mode for video, etc...I have no idea which is which.
the only reliable one I've seen is the Anker Powerline II (not II+ or III, just II).
those generic brands all claim to be mfi certified but actually they only certified one or few of their products while most others are not.

Manufacturers go out of their way to advertise 100W (20V @ 5A), usually by USB3.1+ or e-marked.
I'm saving all those micro USB cables that come with all those devices - good quality ones from Amazon Echo dots (2nd gen), Fire tablets and Fire TV sticks, the mobile phones of yesteryear. Mediocre ones that come with wireless earphones, tiny ones that come with power banks, all of them.
One day they're gonna be scarce and increase in value. Sell on eBay -> profit!
Kidding. But I do save those cables and not throw them away, knowing fully well that we're moving towards USB-C. Any ideas on best ways to use / donate them so that they don't end up in a landfill?

That's what happens when you don't use appropriate punctuation.
