Why couldn't they make a reissue of this? I would have bought it in a sec and at a premium. This is how silly this is. The reason why his chest opens is because in the original he transformed into a cassette deck and his chest held the cassette decepticons. So why would they still have this if he doesn't transform into something similar.

A hugely popular character like Soundwave gets 1 exclusive impossible to find release that we all really want. A G1 style Soundwave that transforms into a proper boombox complete with cassettes. Also see the G1 style VW beetle Bumblebee. They'll rerelease him in every single other form except the one we really want.
It's such a crapshoot with figures now. You don't know which ones sell out during presale and never get a rerelease or which ones will become pegwarmers or make it to clearance and then get rereleased.

The *whole point* of soundwave is to have a cassette player. It would probably fool folks that don't remember what a cassette player really looks like

but any Transformers outside of the original 1980s classic TF just look aweful IMHO especially the new micheal bay ones and the 2000s fully CGI ones..
