You literally do not need to use the HP batteries on your Ryobi HP tools, but with this kit you can take full advantage of the performance of your HP tools vs the non HP batteries. You don't like how heavy they are with a 6ah or even 4ah battery? Great we got your 2ah one right here. Oh the 2ah does not last long enough? Great we got the 6ah. What's that still to heavy? Fine the 4ah is just right, now shut up and buy some more HP tools to take advantage of your starter kit. Here, we even give you a free tool as a bonus so you can really start off right and don't need to really buy more HP batteries unless you want to.
You cannot ship the one you want to keep to house and choose to pick up the one you don't and cancel it.
Choosing the most expensive tool, the battery kit is then $107.61, but you will have to return the tool you don't want to keep.

Can one still return the batteries that come with this set, and keep the Brushless Rotary Tool?

Also, if you have a dead battery pack, often it is worthwhile to open it up, find the one or two bad cells, and replace just the one or two bad cells.

Then there's also the flippers who hoard them to sell locally to make a profit. There's someone local to me that has an ad on Craigslist all year long selling these kits broken down to individual items. They even try to flip stuff from DTO sales lol.
It's a great deal, but everyone can just relax a bit because they'll eventually restock what you want before the event is over. Unless you need the batteries or free tool immediately, there's no rush.
To the right of that, click or tap the words "Free gift with purchase" and it will display the list of free tools.
1) it has an auto feed head, which wastes a lot of line over a bump feed head.
2) it doesn't accept expand-it attachments
If neither of those things matter to you, then go for it. It has enough power to handle most trimmer needs even with only 18V. This model is actually pretty good.
I upgraded to a 40V expand-it trimmer so that I could use it for more than just trimming and edging. I have a small yard and IMHO, a good string trimmer is the most important yard tool. Even more important than my lawn mower. If my mower broke, I could still cut all the grass with my string trimmer.
On my computer, I get:
