The 8" chainsaw cuts much better than a reciprocating saw. They both should be able to cut the same things but the chainsaw will cut it easier/faster. I bought the 8" chainsaw but returned it because the lack of an auto oiler made it so I had to keep manual oiling it which gets old fast. I'm waiting for a good deal on the 10" with an auto oiler or maybe a really good deal on an ego.

I'm aware they go on sale for $79. Most of the time when they are in stock they are $99. After this sale, they might not even be in stock for a while.
