That sounds like a lot of work! And you have to use Facebook. No thanks.

Probably because it's a complete pain in the ass to meet someone to do the exchange for $10. Not sure what your time is worth

Unable to do that here. It only shows a single "cancel order" button, and not an option to only cancel an individual item.
Hmm maybe you need to add both products to your cart separately?

If you get an error checking out, make sure that both items have the same delivery method. If you have one as ship to home and the other as pick up at store, it will fail.

Had a $15 off $100 so got a great deal.
This blower is not part of the deal. How did you do it?

I called and said that the free one in the picture didn't look like the free one that they were giving away. I paid the difference between the two which was like $25.

Hmm I bought this exact battery set 50 days ago. I already opened the box though and used the battery just once. Do you think I could return it still or ask them to give me a tool? The returns say there's a 90 day window for unopened boxes....
Or you can buy this new deal then return the batteries with your old receipt just for the batteries.

This was the method we used previously. Order the item you want sent home and the other item sent to store, but don't pick it up.

The deal is pointless now (for delivery), since the batteries are out of stock. Every tool/attachment requires the battery.

I am not doing anything amazing yet with my tools and was wondering if you think Dewalt or Ryobi are better. Just trying to do some small things around the house.
Keep in mind that Ryobi is a low end budget brand that offers great value for beginners/home owner level. They have a few tiers in terms of quality and performance though. The free tools (brushed and several generations old) offered in this $99 battery kit deal are the lowest tier, while the free tools (brushless and much newer) offered in their $199 HP battery kit are closer to their top tier.

There's a pretty significant gap (and cost difference) between Ryobi tools and the contractor/pro grade tools like DeWalt/Milwaukee/Makita/Bosch/etc. My advice is that for anything you would need high precision and accuracy from, spend the extra money and buy a better brand, in new condition (not reconditioned/not refurbed). Things like woodworking tools such as a table saw, miter saw, circular saw, jig saw, thickness planer, jointer, drill press, etc. Ryobi stuff will all work fine for the most part, but the accuracy can be hit or miss, and in my personal experience, it's mostly miss in terms of high precision. You can still make quality cabinets and such, it'll just require more money and way more work to fix and cleanup your cuts. It can get pretty aggravating having to deal with cuts that aren't completely straight or square.

For rough cuts/rough framing, Ryobi is totally fine. These days with the ridiculously high cost of lumber (2x-3x more) due to covid, it became cheaper to buy better tools lol.

For everything else, Ryobi tools are totally fine and a good starting point. These free tools are great as "free tools" but I wouldn't buy them outside of this deal. That would be a waste of money because you get a lot more value buying the next tier up within the Ryobi ecosystem when you're buying a tool only.

But still, the time involved just doesn't seem worth it, I sell the extra batteries from kits on ebay usually, no mess, no fuss. 5 minutes and done. I don't have to worry about "is this still available" and "would you take half the asking price"
Doesn't shipping costs cut into how much you make? What do you generally net from it?

Shipping (varied by obvious metrics) and fees (about 15%) eat a ton of margins, and its a crowded market. But if you're just looking to lower your cost basis on a deal like this, it's absolutely worth it. If you're willing to do it right and have reasonable expectations, you can do alright and subsidize your tool purchases by a lot. You're not going to get rich by any means.

Ugh, all I wanted was the dual high/low inflator but it's not on the list. Oh well.
