That said, without knowing the specs of the 3060 unit in use, it's hard to compare and know what would and wouldn't work. But based on the fact you can spec this with a 3070Ti, it's clear at least HP's version of that would work...

I like the NZXT build below, almost all the same components, but the only knock is the CPU is i5-10400F. Is there a big difference between 10th and 12th generation? I like the upgrade ability of NZXT which doesn't use proprietary parts. Any advice would help?

You'll get the added capacity, but it's not going to run in dual channel bandwidth on every motherboard.
Also, no need to match latencies if you're just going to haphazardly throw random dimms in.
A properly paired 16GB set isn't that expensive compared to a single 8GB dimm anyway, but the fact that manufacturers aren't including it as standard is just insulting at this point.
But feel free to provide any proof or review showing your claim. Let's not make up stuffs.
And have you opened the link? HP does provide all kind of memory upgrade option over there. Only reason it hasn't been chosen because the price is always way higher than you're doing it after purchasing the desktop.
I was able to apply the coupon without signing in, but once when I signed in the coupon became unapplicable.
However, I checked out with Military Discount and it comes out to be $1,004.99 + TX with 256MB nvme HD. I might go with this option since I plan to upgrade the HD with 1GB nvme as well as adding another 8GB RAM.

I am curious as to how the community finds out about the non-propriety nature of the motherboard/PSU for the above deal, and how I could figure those things out for myself for the TE01 envy model. (I am looking at that one, as it is ready to ship, as opposed to the other one which ships a few weeks from now).
Any other thoughts on the comparison would also be appreciated.
