How long until phone is unlocked?

Turns out it's 6 months for the phone to be unlocked. I'll pass.

These deals are useless unless you have a corporate store nearby.

Metro is a dirtball company. They hire scammy people who are trained to try shady stuff all of the time. Even the corporate stores have become shady. Stay away from these scammers and give your money to a more reputable company rather than these POS losers.

I was just there literally a few hours ago, I was given the old promo. At first when I got there I just asked about the iPhone 11 without mentioning any sort of promo, the salesperson(corporate store) was telling me about the same thing as the OP($40 line $99 iPhone) but before I had to pay the Manager told him that I needed to be on the $60 plan or else I wont get the $400 rebate and just get $100 rebate on the Phone, he actually showed his screen as he was processing the Sale, I wasn't aware of this current promo and was there to get the old promo so I didn't argue. and got the iPhone11 for $100+$60line+$12 insurance
Corporate store told me it was 3 months of $60 plan before lower-ish to $30/month plan.

So, $270, plus tax on original $400. Chicago this will be $ $315. I don't know if this is a good deal especially if you can't use it as a trade-in.

I am about to jump on the deal where this extra iphone trade-in hoop would save me $150ish, but with all these comments about Metro experiences I feel like this extra hoop might not be worth it.

When I asked last time they said no porting + deal price for visible customer
Yes, they accept visible. When they look up the numbers it will come up as verizon. You don't tell them it's visible.

As a generality, authorized dealer stores seem to add on other extra fees. Like when I had to get a replacement SIM some years ago at an authorized dealer of another cell service, they wanted to charge me like $10-$15 for the SIM, but it would have been free at a corporate store
I had a differing experience. I went to a corporate store and they took a picture of my ID AND added on unwanted fees without telling me. There were a bunch of add ons for the plan that I never requested and he wasn't transparent and never showed me the screen.

On top of all this, from start to finish for a family plan of 4 phones, it literally took almost 3 hours to process and "setup" the phones in store. I tried to tell him I'll just set it up when I get home but they wouldn't budge. I've been to two other corporate stores before and this was the worst experience. The other corporate store did allow me to setup the phones at home so it only took about an hour to get everything set up.

My experience is each corporate stores vary and the managers who run the stores will either be honest or force their people to tack on additional fees. Either that or the employees receive some incentive for tacking on all the extra fees...

With all the time wasted at the physical store including commute time, you'd be far ahead even paying extra from another carrier that let's you get the phone shipped such as cricket or visible. I'll never do another metro deal regardless of how cheap it is. At a certain point, all the time you wasted there you could've just worked a normal job and ended up ahead.

I might take advantage of this.
$100 iPhone
$40 Plan

Old phone activated with Tracfone $15 (With autopay)

End of the day roughly $160ish is spent (Taxes & fees) just to trade it in to Apple for a $320 discount towards a newer phone.
I can see this phone getting $400 trade in with T-Mobile in October for an iPhone 14 or so or at least be in the highest category. Not that far out at this point.

Worst case you do that for a month and then change online.

Apple gives $320 only if you're buying new one from them, if you want to do their "gift card" instead it's $255 (it seems they slashed their trade in values and then week later made the "special offer" that boosts them back😂 now that's some "geniuses" at work in marketing for sure).
do u think they'll drop the trade in values for gift card after 5/31 for gift card? I mean just last month I saw it for $290 and this month its $255, I'm wondering if it'll go back up or go even lower 😭

In a corporate store, the cost is $99+tax+$40/month. Put it in the drawer for 6 months, it will be unlocked automatically.

I checked the terms on their website:
"
Apple iPhone SE Switcher Plus Instant Rebate: For a limited time and while supplies last at participating Metro by T-Mobile stores, purchase an Apple iPhone SE (64GB) and port-in an existing eligible wireless number to that phone to a $60/mo. plan and receive an instant $330 rebate off the full retail price of $429.99 with validation of name, address, and date of birth provided through independent database and presentation of matching identification. Excludes phone numbers currently active on T-Mobile or active on Metro by T-Mobile in past 180 days. Limit two (2) total smartphone instant rebates per account/household. Rebate provided in form of credit against regular purchase price and has no cash value. See store associate for complete details. Tax due on pre-rebate price. Certain restrictions apply. No rain checks.
"

So to be eligible, it has to be $60/mo, NOT $40/mo.

In the city I live I would never let an employee from metropcs photocopy my ID thats beyond ridiculous.

Will Apple accept carrier locked phones for trade ins?

This is worse deal than before because with previous deal you didn't really need to pay $60 for all 3 months. People reported that they downgraded after 1st month to the $30 plan and still got the $50 prepaid card after having paid 60+30+30 = $120 for 3 months.

Now you still end up paying 120 for 3 months but you don't get the $50 prepaid card.

I am very upset. I was about to take advantage of the previous deal. Mad
i may be missing something..
..but i thought this deal is better..
.all in..1 month only ...for just $160
