Many apps (think STEM) are geared toward touch-enabled devices which makes for a superior experience for kids. Sadly, kids are keyboard/mouse inept.
For adults relying on cloud services, a larger screen equals greater productivity.

I bought it for $189 then a few days later it went to $149 as a Deal of the day.
I had Best Buy price match and they credited me the difference.
Could happen again.
This is a very nice Chromebook.
I have a few of the little ones from previous years.
I'm definitely glad that I got this one.
Picture looks fine.
I do Bluetooth the sound to my LG soundbar for movies.
But for just short videos I use the sound of Chromebook.
Ryzen 3 has easily and speedily handled every task I have thrown at it, and 4 gigs of memory has been plenty for my work and play. This Ryzen chip was designed for use with chrome OS, and it shows. There is a fan, and after hours of work, I could sometimes hear it turn on, but it never bothered me. This Spin has not bogged down on me at all, and all tasks have been completed with aplomb. I seldom use the Linux apps, but did turn on the feature to install and use several apps, including Thunderbird mail. I had no problems, but I think you would be pressing the limits of this laptop's memory if you wanted to keep several Linux apps going at once.

I am confused too, did you read what RicardoS7677 wrote? He owns your laptop and compared it to this 17 inch ASUS, which he also OWNS?
Sometimes , it is not just about the chipset, it is about the whole package, and the company making the device, right?
And you are saying your Ryzen 3 Acer is better, right? Challenge him, to a BATTLE of the 2 chromebooks!
It doesn't seem like you ACCEPT RicardoS7677's review comparing them. Slap him in the face with a wet noodle, and challenge him. In the spirit of fun and harmless horse play. Unless you surrender and ACCEPT RicardoS7677's USER comparision as fair and balanced. Which is ok too.
I miss the olden days where we would take our differences OUTSIDE, with pistols in hand and take 10 paces apart, turn around and shoot!

I was just expecting a decent leap from the $149 17.3" Asus and the $229 Spin 514. They're both great Chromebooks, but the performance difference just isn't noticeable.
I think I'll return the Acer Spin 514, and wait for an under $300 Chromebook with 8GB of RAM and an NVMe drive instead of eMMC, those two are the real bottlenecks when it comes to Chromebooks.

EDIT: I'm just saying that this ASUS 17.3" is the best Chromebook for the money on Memorial Day or otherwise. Also, the battery on the ASUS is almost twice that the Spin 514, and it's the only Chromebook where I don't instinctively slouch down to view the screen. I love the 17.3" screen. The Acer Spin 514 screen is significantly dimmer too at barely over 200 nits.
That was fast, quick draw!
I was composing my post and you already have posted the comparision pictures. And you can see the size of Screens.
Thanks for running circles aound me.

EDIT: The Acer Spin 514 is $209 shipped from the Acer Recertified site after coupon, which is a more reasonable deal for a well built aluminum Chromebook with a backlit keyboard. I paid $251 for mine from Best Buy, and just isn't as impressive at this price.
The last couple of weeks I'm breaking in my Acer Aspire XC Desktop (Refurb): i5-11400, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Win 10 for 299 dollars.

The ASUS 17 inch chromebook and this ACER desktop both work for me.
It sounds like you have been busy yourself with cool tech toys too.

But not all lcd panels made are the same. Some differ on brightness and color.
