Okay, I'm pulling the trigger.
Benchmarks show that actual game load time deltas versus the NMVe drives is minimal. Yeah, next generation consoles might leverage, yada, yadha, yadha... I'll worry about that in 2-4 years. I have a truck load of legacy games to get through in the meantime. For now, this DRAM-less SSD does what i need. I don't backup/restore whole OS images daily, so the limited write cache isn't a problem.

This is a good deal; a 2TB ssd (of any type) for $130 is amazing. ... hopefully it can only get cheaper.

Lots of reviews say it's really slow. You get the initial burst at the max speed SATA would allow, but then it drops to below HDD speeds.

Agreed. These are a gamble even if your data is backed up because the warranty at best requires you to fund and wait on a trip to Taiwan. The top rated Crucial MX500 is $180 and the Mushkin Source II is another good alternative at $155.

Honestly when they are I plan on replacing all my hard drives, I'm tired of hearing them spin more then the speed as silly as it sounds....I have two 1tb nvme but I'd like to retire my 5tb and 2tb hdd sometime. Have you seen them go that low yet? I been on the lookout but haven't seen them go that low yet.

How exactly is this a gamble? What does backing up your data (something you should do with all drives) have to do with it?

Just test the drive when you first get it before putting anything on it.

If it fails, send it back.

For me in case with SSDs it would be performance, SSDs don't fail that often (unless it's the worst junk) but if the performance is inconsistent and gets worse with time it would be hard pass for me. The warranty options from this company shouldn't be considered as valid IMO but if their fail rate is low enough people will jump on it because of price and small fail rate regardless, which is ok but if it slows down and it's performance becomes "mechanical" speeds or worse as reviews mention then not sure if it's such a good "deal".

I think this has been posted a few times at this price and the reviews for this particular drive are pretty bad.

4TB Crucial MX500 is $359 on Amazon making it same price for 2TB.
It maybe better to get that if you have the money to spend at this time.

Who is TeamGroup? I bought their memory and they are working very well, probably better than Micron. I guess they are just selling rebranded OEM.
