Probably one of the best prices I've seen for a 27/28 in 4K IPS monitor.

Fixed stand but is VESA mountable, 2 HDMI, 1 Displayport, Audio/headphone out.

And yes, because there is always that guy *this is 60 Hz only*

I bought this a few weeks ago and love it. Text is sharp and the colors are awesome. I have it next to a 5k 27 inch iMac and actually prefer the Samsung monitor.
4k and scale only, don't set 1440p.
I bought a pair of these last year during a similar sale. One of the panels was really good, the other had terrible light bleed. So I couldn't get them to look even close to matched. So I bought a third one to replace the bad one, but it wasn't noticeably better. I ended up returning all 3. So my advice is to examine for light bleed first.

I don't have great eyesight so I ran these at 4k 200% scaling and it looked great (on the good one).

Note: the vesa mount can be problematic depending on what kind of mount you use.

Thanks for the info!

I just do web development and I use a 15" MacBook pro. Don't really game or anything. I just need lots of screen real estate to make me more efficient to copy and paste code from Google and stack overflow.

No problem. S80UA is perfect for what you are going to be using it for. Plus the type-c port gives out 90 W.

Possibly upto 300 but this monitor does not get bright although the picture quality is very good. I saw an open box excellent at 211 at my local best buy, did not pull the trigger telling myself i dont need one lol

Not sure if something was bad in my unit, I did not like it.Returned ...Tried with macbook , out of the box colors are not good, have to adjust a lot to get a decent display....and for ps5 very bad...lot of settings gets disabled, can not choose any mode...does not seem to get bright, very dark and difficult to get accurate color, don't use it for ps5. Can be used for PC after a lot of adjustments. Does not have speakers also. Value for money may be depends on the purpose, if
we compare with other 27 inch 4k around 330 range may be this is not a good choice.Spend 70-80 extra and get a better one for long term.

Scaling 4K to 1440p is not producing square pixels though so you're not getting a clear picture and it's more taxing on the GPU. For best results you won't a whole number multiplier which is why 5k/2 = 1440 and typically a 1440p monitor is at 27". If it works for you, great, but there are trade offs.

I have a work laptop connected to it and uses shitty Intel integrated gpu so 4k is sluggish on it even if all I do is productivity work. Once I set it to 1440p I noticed the performance is night and day so I'm not sure how true your statement about taxing the GPU is.

Best has done it before for PCs, laptops and monitors.

Just picked one from Bestbuy, and I'd say this monitor is definitely worth $270(including tax). I was using an old LG 32-inch 4k VA panel monitor and I am so glad that I ditched it.

Currently have a 27" 5k 2017 iMac and looking to keep that same size but upgrade computer. Would this work well with a m1 Mac mini? How does the screen compare to the 5k iMac?

FWIW, been using an Asus VG289Q1A for coming up on a year now -- it's a 28" 4k monitor that may use the same panel, since research last August said there was only one 28" 4k panel made. I've been running it at 4k rez, 150% scaling, text at 120%, and it's been fine in daily use. The biggest difference compared to 1080p or 1440 is what's effectively a larger desktop -- more windows side by side etc. The extra rez is cool, but you're not really gonna notice that much on a 28' screen. Marketing specs said 100% RGB, but using a Spyder X Pro, best I can get is 98%. Like the Samsung, marketing specs said HDR, but it can't get bright enough to match the actual HDR spec. One or two posts asked about settings -- using the Spyder X Pro, along with the Asus utility Display Widget Lite: Brightness 52, Contrast 80, Saturation 50, Red 71, Green 67, Blue 70, though that's for this specific monitor, and yours will be different.

Trash monitor... The Freesync is NOT Gsync compatible on this specific model. The VESA cannot be mounted on the same level with other monitors due to stupid positioning of the holes

How does this other Samsung monitor 27" S80UA https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...800ujnxgo/ [samsung.com] compare?
I'm looking for a monitor with USB-C video and charging.

I can get this for $277.19 after a government discount.

thanks
I bought 4 of these. I like them, but first thing I did was turn off the eco settings for the brightness. Had an issue with one being plugged into 2 computers (usb-c and hdmi), the monitor would resync every 10m or so (go black, do something, come back on forcing me to redistribute my windows) which was super annoying until I unplugged the 2nd computer. I read some articles that indicated this was a "hw bug" and unfixable. No idea, I just unplugged.

The only other thing I'd say is I don't think the S80 is VESA mount compatible? (comes with an adjustable stand including portrait mode). I was thinking of buying a couple of these just so I can mix and match mount or no mount as needed with my existing S80s... but im not sure due to the lack of USB-C on these.

Why didn't you like the 32"? I prefer it so I can run at 100% scale and still be readable.
