Just placed my order for a single line upgrade and the checkout process only showed the $100 trade-in value. However, then they sent me a text within minutes saying I agreed to "...quote of $0..." on my trade-in device. I can't figure if I got ripped off during checkout, or if this is because a $430 offer (not showing anywhere yet) would negate a typical trade-in value.

This is correct. your phone trade-in value is $0. However, you are getting $100 promotion credit for trade in. You are not getting $430 credit if it did not show on your screen when you placed the order.

As long as you pay off the EIP, you should be ok. Completely a different promo...

I just purchased a cheap iphone 5c. I'll put my sim card in it, and try my luck. Worst case scenario, I'll just get an n200.
Please let us know if the purchased iphone 5c worked out, if so, what is your T-mobile plan?

I was able to call them and get the promo.
Just gave the promo code P038 and Tommy the rep helped with an online order for the iPhone SE3 64GB. Trading in an iPhone 5C (Verizon unlocked).

Thanks a lot OP!

Hoping this works. 🤞🏾

It's tempting but I don't want to give up my trusty iPhone 3GS. Does anyone know if they will still take it with a chip on the rear housing?

All iPhones before the iPhone 5s are not VOLTE capable. That is why these phones are eligible. As for the iPhone SE (1st Gen) and newer these phones are VOLTE capable. I would suggest try any older android phones as well that are not VOLTE compatible and see what T-MOBILE will give you for that trade in. If the system allows you to get the $430 then enjoy your new phone. I'll be trying this with the ZTE Z Max later today and see if I can trigger this promo.

"pay off the EIP" meaning I pay off the N200's inflated value of $216? No, I am not willing to do that. If they will take the phone back, and take me off EIP, maybe.
If you don't want to pay off the EIP, you might as well get used to it. It's yours for the next 24 months.

Did I see someone mention if you are on the One Plus plan you wouldn't be eligible even if you had an older phone activated on the line?

Does the iPhone 5s qualify? And can this credit be used for a different iPhone like the 13 mini?

Does any of you already see the monthly credit under EIP? Everyone is waiting for 1-2 cycles?

Yes. I did buy 13 mini with my iPhone 5c. Iphone 5s should be fine.
I bought it through the live chat in TMobile website. They waived the service charge too.

At this point, if you returned the N200, you're not getting your old phone that you traded in back. So you could return the N200, write off your old 3g phone, and that should terminate your EIP. (I say 'should' because I've never done it, but it would seem logical to do). I would imagine the whole process would take about two billing cycles (because everything seems to these days). At that point, you can obtain another old iPhone, log it with their system by swapping the sim in, and try again.

OR

(I think this is easier), pay off the EIP (which just means you're prepaying... you'll still receive your $9/month for 24 months... you're not losing the "free device". I did just that for two lines, and sold them for $125 each), grab another old iPhone, and go through this process.

But again, at this point, nothing is guaranteed... swapping in a sim into an old iPhone seems to work for some and not for others in terms of receiving the $429 credit. I for one am taking a gamble and bought a used 5c that is locked to T-mo and swapping in a sim from my backup line. My logic is that since the phone was ONCE used on T-mo's system, I might have an easier time getting the promo approved. I'll let you all know here if I'm successful. BTW, I'm on Simple Choice.
