Guys, if you do not see anything, my suggestion is to call T-Mobile and ask if you are eligible for offer P038.

My 1st billing cycle ended and I got my bill today. No promo yet. I didn't really expect to see it yet, but still hoped I would, so I would feel more comfortable doing my remaining 3G phones on my other lines.

Edit: They have had my trade-in for a week now, but my account doesn't reflect it yet.

anyone waiting until tomorrow to see if they offer something else?
I have a family member that uses a flip phone and qualifies for the 'free 5g' phone

I did not get any of the emails, but will try with these screenshots at a dealer, and may get denied. Looks like this promo is different, though. It says no taxes or fees (the P038 charges sales tax on the device). Also would love to see the Terms and Conditions to know if this is a 24 month EIP or is it really a "iPhone SE on us". So please give us more details PrayingMantis !!!!!!

My iPhone 5 already won't work any longer.
I also was mot able to find if it's 24 months EIP or not. Was planning on going to in store and ask for details and talk with them to get the device without EIP.
Also to let you know, on the screenshot, you may have noticed that it says impacted number and list last 4 of my phone number, which i masked.

Finally, the P1 promo has been applied correctly to my account. Yeah!

I was not targeted for the promo so did the backdoor call-in method a couple of weeks ago to snag the deal. The P7 promo was incorrectly applied to my account initially, but T-Force finally had it switched over to P1 today as promised.

Thanks OP for the heads up on this deal. Allowed me to score a free iPhone. (well, almost free, actually for the cost of tax and a nearly worthless iPhone 4).

How long did the promotion kick in after they switched over? TForce said they manually enrolled me, although I was targeted for the offer.

Not sure what you mean exactly. The promo was switched from P7 to P1 on my account today. It now shows up in my account correctly as 2022 UMTS Apple Upgrade P1 for $17.92 monthly credits for 24 months. Previously it showed $4.17 monthly credits for 24 months.

Thanks. So the promotion change became effective on the same day. I'll wait for couple days as they promised the change would kick in with 48 hours.

I am not sure if T-mobile will honor this promo if you wait for couple months. I have been told couple time by multiple CSR that once the promo is expired, they cannot do anything on it.

If you have another line that has no EIP attached, insert that sim on your 5s and try again.

I am just hoping that Tmobile keeps on checking eligible line for this promo and send eligibility email or after July 1, they run another similar promo.

Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion. I used another line that has no EIP, went on chat and got approved for the offer.
In summary: did not get targeted, plug sim into an old iPhone 5, went through chat and ask for P038 2022 UTMS Apple upgrade P1, got the offer, iphone 5 trade in value as 0$

Paid $35 service fee and $29 in sales tax

My only problem is that when I plug in the SIM, the system shows it as white 64GB and the rep used that to calculate the 0$ trade in value. The actual phone is space gray black 16 GB. Atleast the rep put down the correct IMEI. I will bring the trade-in into a store and see if they accept it.

Edit: chat with rep and was told that it will be fine as long as the IMEI match what they have on the system 😓

I finally went into the store today and got the iPhone SE (3rd generation). I was charged a total of $62.90 ($35 service fee and $27.90 tax) even though the promo email said No tax, fee, or plan change required. The rep from the store said they can't waive it and also suggested calling the CSR and it can be credited to the account.
Received the account credit after calling the CSR. She was willing to waive the service charge without any issue but was hesitant to waive the tax but finally did the credit.

Edit: My only concern is I don't see any promo attached to this device when I check it under Equipment Installment Plans & Leases. CSR said the promo should kick in within 1-2 billing cycle.

Got P1 applied to my account, thanks OP! My steps I took.

- Did not get promo email
- Put sim into 3GS, but got recognized as Iphone XS. I tried again with Iphone 5c and it got properly recognized.
- Went to T-mobile.com, logged in and initiated the chat on the website. Chat window seems to show up during off peak hours (late night, early morning). Asked if I qualify for P1 promo, rep didn't know what it was so I sent them the details straight from the website. Rep came back and asked what phone I was trading in. Made the rep confirm to me the exact details of the P1 that would be applied to my account and screenshot it.
- Purchased IPhone 11. Shipping was waived, but they charged me a service fee. I asked if they could waive it for me. They said they could not waive it, but that amount would be credited to my account. They did honor that request and I saw a credit on my account immediately.
This process took about an hour.
- Ask the rep to put in your account notes that you qualify and have promo P1 applied to your account. I forgot to do this and might have saved some headache in the next steps.

- Rep did not give me shipping label so I though I could just go to store to trade in. T-mobile store was operated by 3rd party and said they could not take my phone and must be mailed in. Gave me shipping label. Shipping label did not match the size and color of phone. Showed trade in value of $0.
- Received phone. Checked account and I did not have any promo info on the EIP line.

- Contacted T-Force on twitter for two reasons:
1) To make sure I can get the full $430 trade value even if the shipping label did not match my phone exactly
2) I knew I was going to have to work to make the P1 promo stick. Did not want to take the chance two billing cycles later
- 1st rep on T-force confirmed that it was okay to trade in phone if it didn't match, the value of the trade in phone just needed to match $0. Rep asked what promo the trade in phone was for and answered them
- 2nd rep logs on. Checks my account and tells me my account does not qualify for P1. I needed to receive an email to qualify. Told them another Tmobile rep said I did qualify and I wouldn't have purchased the phone if I didn't qualify. 2nd rep asks for me to go through the return process to ship the phone back... WTF? more back and forth... I went to bed heated, unresolved.

- Next day back to twitter 3rd rep, I asked again if promo P1 will be applied because another rep told me I qualified. Super energetic and bubbly response "...I have already enrolled your line for the promotion specified and you should see this in one to two bill cycles!"
- Didn't know which rep to believe in at this point. Checked account 2 days later and the promo got posted!

I did not even send in my phone yet and the promo is posted, is this expected or probably because the rep pushed it onto my account?

For me personally, I've always had to usually work for these T-Mobile deals, very rarely a straightforward transaction. But to T-Mobile's defense their customer service always comes though. Might have to go though different reps, but I have always gotten the deal in the end with some work. I avoid calling a rep like the plauge. Much easier and I spend a lot less time going through Twitter or FB.
Talk about REALLY having to fight for this promo. I know, no pain no gain but that's a ton of work I don't have time for, lol. I fought hard 3 years ago with an iPhone deal and the stress was just not worth it and I promise myself never to do it again. Activated my 5S almost 2 weeks ago, no promo showed up so that's it for me. Good luck with the fight everyone

It's not that difficult. You're reading way too deep into this and passing on a nearly free iPhone based on recent experiences mostly from newbs who sometimes complicate things. You do you, but before you make a final decision, here's the reality of how it works:

Call 611 to order a new iPhone. Get a rep to apply the P038 promo in the order notes. Provide IMEI of 3g iPhone you're trading. After new phone is delivered, mail trade-in device. Wait for promo to post. It will be P7. Tweet Tforce to manually correct promo to P1 as promised. Sit back and wait for P1 to show on account correctly in about 2 weeks.

That's it. Boom, (almost) free iPhone. It's not complicated and not much time invested for a $430 credit. Just my opinion.

Well, it's July and the deal info still shows on the TM site. I wonder if people can still get it, and how long it will last.

Yeah your right, but it's not hard work you just have to keep on top of it. I figure for 2 hours of work, all of it I was doing while watching TV comes out to around $200/hr for my time. It's worth it since this is way more than what I get paid at my job LMAO

Tmobile always honor the deal eventually in my experience. You just need to keep trying to find the one good rep that knows what they are doing.
