which would you buy? The $500 Greenworks at Costco deal that we see time to time? Or the $500 Ego mower on this deal? Please explain why. I'm thinking about buying a mower and not sure which to choose. Thanks for your help!
The GW 80v at Costco has 8 years of warranty on the batteries, which seems pretty compelling. Also it's the new GW with the LED lights. I came close to picking it up yesterday but am waiting for the next sale.

Man, I'd love that zero-turn, but a season of professional cutting on my 1/2 acre is $900 .... hard to swallow 6+ years worth of pros doing the work for me.
lol $900 for one season, must be nice to only have to mow 3 months out of the year. It's $2,300 for each season here.

Great deal. I am currently going through ego warranty hell with my mower. One of the relays went out, while under warranty, and the local repair shop ego referred me to put me on a waiting list for the repair, #7 with no idea as to when they could get to me. Completely unacceptable in this day and age. Another call to ego Monday morning.
All I had to do is call back a second time and tell them that the repair shop told me they no longer work on Ego products. The CSR rep said "in that case, we will have to send you a replacement". Best of luck!

I am not an ego fan boy! I LOVE the edger, Nearly as good is the leaf blower (I just have a 530, but have plans for a 765 in my future), next would be the hedge trimmer, I don't use it much but it seems to be quite good so far...Of my Ego tools my least favorite is the weed eater (AKA string trimmer) IT IS TOO LONG TOO HEAVY AND WILL NOT DO ANY EDGING AT ALL DUE TO THE CRAPPY DESIGN. My least favorite Ego tool was the lawnmower. It was so crappy, that I took it back to Home Depot. It would leave lots of uncut blades standing after mowing. Ego CS only suggestion was to cut the entire yard twice or just to make each lap half as wide! I am planning to sell the 530 blower and the ego weed eater as a package when I get my 765 (2ea 5AH battery model).

I've been looking for a 7.5ah battery for over a year. Out of warranty so the only option is retail. There have been ZERO 7.5ah batteries for sale, so I am considering buying the full lawnmower kit and tossing the mower.

I do not have any batter operated tools and looking for a decent leaf blower.

What leaf blowers do you have and do they do good job for a large size heavy leaves and debris yard?
Dry leaves, the Ego 650 rpm blower just eats them up. It depends on what a wet leaf is - damp leaves, it should do a good job, but if everything is wet (ground and leaves) it will be tough. The thing I like about the Ego blowers is that they will clean the driveway off - dirt, grass clippings, small branches - I didn't get this performance from my 18+ Ryobi blower.

I was able to have no issues blowing maple leaves into piles that I was able to rake up last fall, but the much smaller leaves from my crepe myrtle were not as easy to work with.

How does this compare to the $250 Ryobi lawn mower at Home Depot? Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

I can't speak to the Ego but I have a Ryobi riding mower I bought in 2020 and I wouldn't buy it again.
Biggest deal breaker is battery life. I have 0.65 acres and when I bought it I could finish the lawn and had 25% battery left. 2 years later I have to charge it for an hour in between just to finish. Have to assume the push mower would have the same issue.

Anyone have experience with about a half acre that is fairly hilly. We mulch, so I think that would help as we wouldn't be carrying the extra weight in the bag, but still unsure if we'd be able to mow fully on one charge. I'm pretty tired of the noise and the scratchy throat from mowing, though I think electric doesn't fully eliminate the throat as I'm sure the pollen comes into play.
1ac property here. I recently bought the select cut with 7.5ah battery. I live in a street that goes up a slope. My yard follows this slope. Front yard is a minor slope, back yard has a big drop off slope due to the neighbors yard.
The self propel engine is incredible in this mower. Some times I have to slow it down or keep up with it as it just moves the mower without any problem. This even on the big drop off slope in the back yard.
Not having to breathe my old gas mower's gas is even better. Last time I felt sick due to this.

The battery, with a lot of self propel usage and using the bagging lift blade, last about 1 hr. Just as advertised. I have to charge the battery about 20 mins so I can finish the job. Given that buying something like a blower with a 5ah battery is a better deal than just the battery, I might have to go this route and sell or store my ryobi blower.

Yes the Ego blower is fantastic. I also have tons of leaves in the fall and it was amazing how much easier it made my cleanup. Used to have to rake for hours. The Ryobi has not really gotten much use since I switched to Ego. It's like switching from a hair dryer to an industrial fan. It's heavier but it works so much better. Would highly recommend.

I got a EGO 2135SP weeks ago. the battery can't finish my my 1/4 acre lawn on one charge. It lasts about 40 minutes. the battery on my last EGO mower purchased on 2018 lasted about an hour, and I was able to finish my lawn on one charge at first 2 years, but the battery only holds about 1/5 of the charge at the fourth year right after the 3 years warranty. I hope the new one can do better, bur seems not by my experience of 5 times of use.

Thanks both. I have lots of poplar, maple and few Crepe Myrtle as well.
I am starting with battery powered tools and EGO seems like a good balanced brand and a customer service. The only issue is finding a spare/replacement battery and seems like a issue but assume probably with all battery vendors.

Wow, replacement batteries cost as much as a gas powered tools.

Didn't know that.. that is pretty nice. Is that standard for all tools purchased through them?

Im currently trying to decide to go all ego or green works for everything so it's a hard choice as apparently green works is coming out with a stage 2 snow blower this fall..

Way overkill for a 1/2 acre too
Overkill? How? It takes me almost 2hrs to mow 1/3 acre with a 21in Toro. The 42in deck would certainly cut that time.

A 42in deck isn't necessarily overkill; I have a 42in Cub Cadet that works great for my 1/2 acre lot. I think what is considered overkill to most people is a $5k zero-turn. A brand new lawn tractor with the same deck size is over half the cost.
