Im currently trying to decide to go all ego or green works for everything so it's a hard choice as apparently green works is coming out with a stage 2 snow blower this fall..
Did lot of dig up and some of the Greenworks thread, lot of users are complaining about extremely difficult customer support from Greenworks.
Also I gathered that EGO has one line up (56 volt) and battery will work across all EGO tools while GW has different line up and battery/chargers cannot be used across their tools.
If someone has different thought, please feel free to suggest.

Also, EGO seems to have higher amp batteries which should lead to longer run time as well, so a 56v 10amp would definitely run longer than the green works 80v 5amp, which I think is the highest they have.
I babied the batteries, never stored them in extreme heat or cold, and yet still had many times where the battery would go in the mower fully-charged and throw an error saying it was actually dead. It would go back on the charger, say it was full, and then finally work in the mower.
The BIG issue with these is they just aren't powerful compared to gas. In the spring when multiple days of rain can hamper mowing but cause grass to shoot up fast, you'll inevitably face some times when the grass is just a little too long for it to handle. This will cause the mower to work harder and the battery will die much faster. I'm not talking shockingly long grass, maybe 5"-6" blades at the max when a week of rain hampers mowing.
Then you get to the Fall when leaves need to be mulched. The Ego again simply isn't powerful enough to mulch leaves into small enough size that is reasonable to leave on the lawn over winter. I'm not saying it won't work at all, but with my gas Toro I'm done in one pass, whereas the Ego takes several passes and still leaves plenty of large pieces uncut.
I'm not trying to tell people not to buy it. I just think it's worth hearing some of the troubles with Ego tools since so many seem overly positive. I wanted batteries to work for me and still love my Ego leaf blower. The string trimmer was also horrible in my experience.
I am starting with battery powered tools and EGO seems like a good balanced brand and a customer service. The only issue is finding a spare/replacement battery and seems like a issue but assume probably with all battery vendors.
Wow, replacement batteries cost as much as a gas powered tools.

I'm the inverse, I've used the mower, chainsaw, blower and weed wacker extensively, and haven't had any real issues. The only thing with the mower I've encountered is when scalping the lawn, sometimes the battery will overheat from cutting too close to the ground. The weed wacker has been great for me as well, and I've been using it on a Christmas Tree Farm to clean up around our trees. No issues at all for me.
I probably would have kept dealing with the mower if I hadn't inherited a newer Toro that works flawlessly. The string trimmer on the other hand was hot garbage. It started with the auto line feeder not working, even after replacing the head unit. Then the motor head last month began smoking after about 10 minutes of use, and I was done. Picked up a nice Stihl trimmer and never going back.

But in the right situation it is still very nice. I like to mow and being able to just push a button and get it done relatively quickly is nice. No running out of gas and having to drive to fill up the gas can midway through a mow, no smoke, no fumes, much quieter. Just a break to recharge between front yard and back yard. Or alternate days mowing between front and back yard if I'm tired and don't want to wait for the battery to recharge.
But it won't work for everyone. My neighbor's back yard is a pretty steep hill with all grass. Also 1/3 of an acre. No way the Ego would handle that. His gas mower wouldn't even do it. Grade is so steep the fluids went sideways and he burned out the carburator. He hires a service to come out and take care of it and they use the big commercial mowers.
With the current ethanol situation I am seriously considering burning leaves this fall after I mulch them with some type of mulcher like the Worx on Amazon. I just don't want to ruin my John Deere rider.

I think the Ego would have been perfect in the South or a less established, slower-growing lawn. It just didn't work out for me, which was disappointing, because I was all in.
Started with the blower and never looked back.
So my far experience has been positive. After the blower, I purchased the hedge trimmer and string trimmer and 14" chainsaw.
Purchased the stage 1 snow blower when they were on clearance at Home Depot for around $320 with 2 5 ah batteries.
After that I got edger w/ pole attachment on a clearance deal at about $80
l purchased a used older ego self propelled mower for around $280, the guy included the 5.0 battery from 2016 and so far no issues but I have read about the issues that can come up.
Overall I have been pleased with the ego line. I haven't noticed any battery issues. I recently bought the parts to do the dual blade 'upgrade' on the Self propelled mower but still waiting on them to get here.
Oh yea, I upgraded from the 14" chainsaw to the 18" back when lowes had it for $150. Haven't had a chance to use it yet.
I haven't been able to fully use the edger. It has a bit of a learning curve to it.

I've now bought into the infrastructure, and have 6 tools - 2 leaf blowers and a back pack blower (leaf blowers are awesome), hedgetrimmer (better than my Ryobi), chain saw and weed whacker (haven't used the last 2 yet). I've bought most from Acme tools refurbished - check them out for sales. I bought in so that I can plug in another battery while the mower 7.5 is recharging.
