This is the router I've been looking for for my wired-backhaul wifi6 network. Tri-band is only useful if you need wireless backhaul, so dual-band is great for my setup. I'm using it as the main router with two ax92u routers as nodes.
This is the most recent router model from Asus. It's essentially an AX11000 with a faster processor, an extra 2.5Gbps port, and a 5 GHz band that isn't split into two parts.
I'm upgrading from the first-gen Google Wifi system, which seems to stutter a lot these days. I'm hoping for a performance increase so big that network performance is something I stop thinking about entirely.
Here's a good review of the unit: https://dongknows.com/asus-rog-ra...er-review/
The Rapture GT-AX6000 is new enough that it's not on this list, but you can still use it for comparison: https://en.wikipedia.or
For example, the list shows that the ax89x is the only router with a faster CPU, but is $125 more expensive.

Even though this router is a performance beast its not worth being at this price range when you can get the Costco TP-Link AX5700 mesh 2 pack keep one router and sell the other router and be at half the cost if not even a 3rd of the cost of this... All your sacrificing is the ability to customize more but getting performance easily within 10% of this. Also the AX5700 is triband and if you plan on using mesh in the future just keep the 2nd router and for $280 your way ahead of the game.

Triband doesn't give you more throughput. They just split the 5GHz band in half, then incremented the name from dual-band to tri-band. This is great if you need wireless backhaul because the higher half (faster half) of the 5 GHz band can be dedicated to that. But, if you do it that way, you can't use that half for direct device connection/communication. So with wired backhaul, the right move is to get a router that can use all the 5GHz spectrum for connecting to devices. This router is perfect for my setup.
I'm going with Asus instead of TP-Link for the better mesh system (AIMesh) and better control generally. I feel like I've watched and read 1000 reviews. TP-Link is great gear for a reduced price. But Asus provides a better value if you're willing to pay a bit more.

The triband is meant for better mesh in the future if you decide to do the mesh route, was not referencing throughput in that statement.
So again if you dont care about customization which well over 90% of people dont, the AX5700 is a better deal if you keep one router in the 2 pack and sell the 2nd one cause they are in high demand online for people looking to expand their coverage.
The AX6000is a great router though, but it just came out at a weird time and also a tad bit overpriced compared to some alternatives. Walmart clearance had them for dirt cheap but none in my area unfortunately, walmarts around Chicago do not carry Asus gear at all.
Like I said I am waiting on the AX11000 PRO to come out hopefully it will be around $400 or under and that will be the flagship to get for future AiMesh setups.

This is the best 4x4+ 4x4 BCM based router (hardware) you can buy right now, but public firmware isn't 100% there. Also its unclear if ASUS will update it for unii4, but they should.
If this drops to $280, theres enough leverage to recommend it over cheaper routers like the AX86U.

Can give a nice base line for out of box settings, but performance numbers should always be taken with a grain of salt, especially if your local environment has high saturation in high or low 5G. (DFS can perform better in cities, but more prone to getting kicked off and hardware not supporting it..)
In a perfect environment 1w unii1 will always outperform 1w unii3... but wifi is one of those things where you have to test things out yourself.
Whether you need triband or not is another story.
The only negative I can give is that ASUS hasn't decided if they want to update this one on UNII4... If they do and pricing drops under $280-300, it would be hard not to recommend this..
This dual band can smoke any tri band. There is a reason this cost more than the ax11000 tri band .
