1. Connect the Google Pixel to a computer. I have a Mac so I use Android File Transfer. It's buggy and sometimes I will have to restart my computer. You can drag and drop files once you go into the Camera folder.
2. Transfer the images/videos onto a USB-C stick and plug it into the Google Pixel. After that it's the same as above, just copy the file onto the Camera folder of the Pixel.
The Pixel will automatically upload the file in the cloud. You will need to clean up to delete the already uploaded files so you can do more.
Google offers storage for free on Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5. The offer is active for the life of the device.
Will wait for 6a to come out, hopefully that l push 5 down a bit more.
They "canceled that" as in the Pixel 6 and newer do not have unlimited storage for either quality option. You have to upload from a Pixel 5 or older device.

If you need Original Quality backups, you can buy a Google Pixel 1 which continues to recieve original quality backup for the life of the device.
I've been in these Pixel threads a long time on SlickDeals before I bought one for myself. I bought a Pixel 3 and when they took Original Quality away I migrated to the older Pixel 1, so feel free to ask questions or search for yourself.

That means photos and videos saved in Storage Saver, uploaded now and forever in the future, are still unlimited. The photos/video do not have to be taken on the Google Pixel device, but they must be saved on the Google Pixel device and the Storage Saver option must be saved on the Google Photos account it's backing up to. Storage Saver reduces anything larger than 16MP to 16MP, and compresses anything larger than 1080p video to 1080p video. The photo compression is pretty good and it's hard to tell a difference in image quality. Video compression is a bit harsher if you use high bitrates.

I was doing this before ever getting a Pixel.
Also get better customer support and 10% credit on each Google store purchase
I have two Pixel 1s in high quality I bought on Swappa at $47 apiece to do this but since I already have the 2TB Google One plan that I use for EVERYTHING, I haven't even taken the time.
