You are a life saver. Absolutely no brainer for a monitor this quality reduced from $1199 to $670
Awesome price. If anyone wants the G9 instead of the CRG9, it's $890, which is the cheapest it's been in a while. That one is 240Hz instead of 120, and 1000R curve instead of 1500R, meaning more of a curve
Comparison between CRG9 and G9 below. In case you are interested, I purchased a CRG9. My use case is 99% productivity, so it comes down to how aggressive of the curve that I prefer. Coming from a 3 x 27inch (2560x1440) setup, I think I will be fine with a CRG9 + a 27 inch (for sharing screen on zoom calls). I was also considering LG C2 42" OLED, I think I will stick with a traditional monitor for now for 1/2 the price of 42" OLED.

I cannot seem to get the promo to work either. Before adding to cart I can see an adjusted price of $740.99 while logged into my edu account. However, after adding it to my cart it shows up as $935.99 during checkout and the promo is not valid.
Yep, same here Frown

Same, Opened the web chat to talk to a team member, explained that my price kept changing during checkout and that the promo code wouldnt work. They guy was beyond useless, ended up creating a personalized checkout for me, only to find that the "personalized checkout" link he sent me was just the same listed price with my address already filled out. Dont waste your time with their web chat!

I can't seem to wrap my brain around the use case for this thing, personally . I had a 34" UW and returned it, going back to my 4K 32". 🤷🏻 ♂️

To each their own, as the expression goes. Great deal, regardless!
How I work with this screen - I use Microsoft PowerToys' FancyZones feature to split the screen into 5. Yes 5. The middle is screen which I refer to as my working area or main stage is 2,120 x 1,400. As the name implies that's where I work and it's like having a monitor of that size which is a pretty nice monitor.

Now the other 4 are 2 to the left and 2 to the right at resolutions of 1,500 x 700. These screens I use for reference, mail, lookup, etc. I find that more often than not I will drag down the left top side down to be essentially 1,500 x 1,400 as I have Outlook there so that I can see the inbox on the top and the preview of the emails on the bottom half.

So here my setup - Outlook on the left side usually spanning 1,500 x 1,400 pixels which allows me to monitor for incoming emails with a quick preview on the bottom left. If I need to reply I can pop it up into the middle main stage.

The middle main stage is 2,120 x 1,400 and has whatever I am working on. This is typically a browser which has many tabs.

The right side top right usually at 1,500 x 700 has Teams, the Teams Chat view as that's how I stay connected to me team. Then on the bottom right at 1,500 x 700 I have the active Teams call (I am in conferences many hours a day). This is where I view the active conference of a screen that's presented, a presentation, or just the team member videos. This is where I mute and unmute, bottom right.

I feel I am very productive with this setup dividing the 5,120 x 1,440 pixels in an optimal way. I can multi-task while keeping an eye on emails and chats all while in a conference and have my middle working screen area.

Looking at reviews and reddit: All g9 derivative models (G9, G9 Neo, CRG9) seem to have major quality control issues. This makes it a hard choice: The price is good if it's a good unit, but horrible if it's a problem one, and there are many problem ones.

Also, mixed reviews on Samsung customer service (most saying it sucks and returns are hard).

My g7 stopped working after a month and a half.

Would an M1 MacBook Air graphics card power this?
I just got an M1 Air this weekend and have this monitor. Connected it using an Anker 7 port dongle via HDMI - the Samsung won't scale past 1920x1080 - so it's very stretched out. Might need some more tinkering or a different type of connection to make it scale to full resolution.

I would also like to reiterate that window management software is pretty much a requirement for ultrawides, 4k monitors, and any other high-resolution (1440p and above) monitor, especially when being used for productivity. Personally, I've been using DisplayFusion for years and I can't go without it on any PC I use. It really does make a huge difference for productivity in terms of being able to arrange your windows in a way that allows you have more content on the screen. When you combine DisplayFusion with keyboard/mouse shortcuts (I use a Logitech G600 to trigger commands seamlessly) and virtual desktops, you can have an extremely powerful productivity setup for a relatively low cost. I recommend buying DisplayFusion when it's on sale from Steam.
Is there a good window management software available on Linux? I am using it both for work and for personal desktop, and a good window managing soltion probably the last thing that holds me back.

Bought one from Amazon 2ish years ago. Arrived with a single dead pixel. Flicked it moderately hard and it came back to life. Been perfect ever since

You will likely need a dedicated HDMI or DisplayPort cable + adapter for this. Probably best to make sure your HDMI cable and adapter both support 8k@60Hz, if you want to be guaranteed full resolution plus high refresh rate on these monitors

Not for gaming. There is a reason VA's are cheap and IPS more expensive.

Ips has better colors and viewing angles but has a glow on darker scenes and smears on fast motion. It's not as easy of a choice. I've seen plenty of terrible ips displays like on the Dell latitude 3420, and 5490, 5480.

Black smear makes VA a no go no matter the price... at least for me Smilie

I have had this monitor for nearly two years and it has been fantastic for both work and gaming. I paid twice as much as this and with the use I have gotten out of it, I still don't think I overpaid. Before, I was using a 34" with a 27" on either side. I got rid of the 34" and moved the two 27" monitors above the CRG-9 and I have more screen real estate than I could ever use.
Would love to see a picture of your setup @jmccomas85, that is exactly what I was thinking of doing as I need the normal monitors for screensharing during Teams meetings.

I used a simple 2 monitor wall mount like this:

It's a bit inelegant but functional.
