Boo. This used to go on sale for $480, then $520… $650 is a huge jump in "sale" price.
MF and GC had the Ferrari Red and Yellow models with ebony fretboards for $680 last month. Edit: the Red and Neon Green models are $680 again this week.
This is mim, not mic. And the entry level guitars by fender are the squier line, bullet, affinity, then classic vibe in that order.

For some reason this color has been on $649 for quite some time. It's this price on Amazon as well. Maybe it's their least popular color? I wish the blue burst was $649

This color is an adorama exclusive for the fender player series. The color is available on other series. These are awesome guitars I've bought 2 strats and 2 teles from adorama in the lake placid blue. Now my son and I have matching guitars! These use to go on sale for $518 but there have been several price hikes since then. The color looks a lot better in person than the stock photos.
If you want a different color, musiciansfriend has several for $680, even the "plus top" and HSS pickup variety.

Bought the Tele for $518 last year. Beautiful guitar.

Inflation If you're not in a hurry, there may be better sales esp around BF.
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but really, as someone who doesn't understand Fender guitars, why does an entry level MIC Strat with SSS cheapo pickups and bridge that looks like it goes out of tune all the time cost this much?
Does it have some distinct sound people like that I don't get? Are these actually a good value compared to $$$ MIA Strats or something?

These are Made in Mexico. New American strats go for like triple this price but it's all relative to your needs. Is it worth another $1,000 to you for a little more attention to detail and finish quality and some slightly upgraded hardware?
Not sure what you mean about going out of tune. It's going to happen with whammy bar use. Can always add more springs to stiffen the bridge if you don't need it. Or maybe upgrade to locking tuners if its really a problem for you.

I picked up one of these a few months ago when it dropped to $699. It's a good guitar, but the neck has some sloppiness that bugs me. Nothing to do with shipping damage, just poor fretwork given the cost.
For anyone seriously considering this specific guitar, look around to other sites Adorama sells on for possibly better shipping deals. I went through eBay for free 2 day shipping whereas their website was offering 7-10 day. Also know that Lake Placid Blue is sometimes hard to photograph. Adorama always shows off that nice solid sky blue hue. In reality there is more green in. Expect it to be closer to something like this: https://max.guitars/en-eu/fender-...-aro-53708
