Check your utilities provider for rebate on Energy Star rated AC.
If your summers are 90° average Anything under 8000 isn't enough imho
5000btu sized for cooling 150sq ft. Larger rooms need bigger.
But depends on how cool you need. Eg a small ac might only cool to 80F on a 100F day, but if that's sufficient, no need for bigger.

My room is about 170 sq ft. 5000u version of this AC was enough for me in last 2 years.
