I am not sure, I expect that if the seat tube is the same diameter from top to bottom that it wouldn't matter whether you cut from the top or bottom, but I am working now and will have to check later to make sure that the seat tube is indeed the same size/diameter top to bottom.

DO NOT CUT THE SEAT TUBE! Seat tube is part of the bike frame. You would want to cut the seat POST. Seat post is what the saddle is attached to. You want to pull the seat post up and out of the seat tube, then cut the bottom of the seat post, only cut enough to lower the seat tube to your needs. Don't cut too much. And file down where you cut so no sharp edges that could score inside the seat tube.

Oops, thanks for the correction in terminology! Yeah I was talking about the seat post, not the seat tube, my bad.

Framed sizes the bike based on the crank to top of seat tube (not including the seat post itself). If the tube measures 16" you got the 16" bike. Given your height I'm assuming the 18" or 20" is what you want.

They dont list L which is the most important part of this bike. Did we come up with stand over height for all three sizes. I tried to go back in the list but I didnt see for the 20". I'm mostly curious where you would get off the bike and stand right in front of the seat, since the bar is curved up, hard to measure exactly how high it is. The top bar is kind of a strange angle, would have fit a lot more riders if it went more straight and then up. I like having the headtube a bit higher which is why I like a little bigger bike.

Yeah wrong terminology on my end as well. I am talking about the seat post which goes in to the tube. I didn't measure the diameter but it felt the same size top to bottom. As the above poster said the lower part has a curve just wanted to make sure if i need to cut the top part of the post. Will measure it before cutting it.

The seat post is straight, no curve. The curve is in the seat tube on the frame. You would cut the bottom of the straight seat post. If you're not comfortable cutting, you can buy a shorter seat post on Amazon. I bought one for one of my bikes for under $10 during Prime Day. This bike takes 31.6mm diameter seat post.

I did that measurement (L on the picture) for my 16" bike while I was measuring the seat tube, and at about 3 inches forward of the front of the tip of the stock seat, "L" measured ~31" from top of the tube to the ground. I suspect once I finish setting up the bike, which includes airing up the tires, it might gain another ~.5-1".

I am wondering if the bike sizes for the Framed is more about the adjustment of the seat height given the significant difference of seat tube sizes, vs. big differences in the stand over height? If the stand over height for the 20" bike was 4" more, at 35" it would be WAY to big for me, even though according to my height the 20" bike is the one that really fits me. Given I am looking for a more relaxed/laid back ride (but still on light trails, thinking more like unpaved roads... but also paved road) vs. taking the bike XC racing or whatever, perhaps my getting the 16" shipped by mistake was a blessing in disguise.

Where do they find so many 18 inch..you can add 100 to cart. Do they just call all bikes 18 inch and it's random the size you are getting ( 16/18/20)? Find it odd that only 18 is in stock

Thanks. The bike was easier to assemble than I expected. Also, I contacted Framed about getting a manual. Here was the response: "I have attached our general FRAMED bikes manual from past years to this email for you. We are working on an updated manual so be on the lookout for that in a few months on our Before You Ride - Framed Bikes page."

What! I dont even know what an Overton's is! $134!

That's good Framed at least knows what this bike is, I was starting to wonder if it was a Alibaba bike with generic label on the frame. Which it more or less is probably. I wonder if Framed got bought out in the past few years and its just a Chinese type company now.

Got mine today. The only downside is no kickstand! Other than else it's a good quality for it's price. It's way better than Walmart bikes in their price range.
