Dang good deal if you can get this bike for $399.98. Got this bike for my 10 year old a year before the pandemic for $275. Never had to buy him another bike since. I bought the Avalanche for myself at the same time for $425. Only had to have the LBS change a punctured tire once from a sticker.
Prepandemic prices! I got the Avalanche myself at the start of pandemic by using a new member 20% coupon and thought my $499 deal was good... The Aggressor for $300 was awesome. Started looking at then and then realized all that it was missing. Was trying to keep up w/ buddy who is MTB pro... The Aggressor is SO heavy... compared to his $8K bike...
I worked as a bike mechanic for 5 years and while the support at a local bike shop my be worth a little premium for the first tune up and having a competent shop take care of you, I did buy this for my son. It was cheaper than the Trek I wanted to get him but it was in stock during COVID and there was whole summer of riding I didn't want him to miss.
It's worked out OK. Rear derailleur hanger is soft but it's meant to save the frame, so while it's been replaced twice. It did it's job and there are many compatible replacement derailleur hangers on Amazon. Cheap for $15 and I eventually got a billet one for $30 that's held up . The shifting and overall components are OK. For $400 it's a good value bike. The real derailleur broke but I'm pretty sure my son was to blame.
While I've owned many Trek, Specialized and Giant bikes, this one is not too different. Frame and specs are reasonable for the price. The real difference is the service you get at a local bike shop. Good deal if it hits the price point for you. If you can spare a little more money go support your local bike shop, doing that will probably treat you better in the long run, no matter what brand you purchase.
Thank you, this statement sums up this bike perfectly, its a solid entry level mountain bike. You would have no problem getting a return on investment if you decided to upgrade and would not be in the poor house if it just gathered dust in the garage. The best bike is the one that gets you out on the trails. Happy 4th of July.
The bike is exactly the same as the giant talon 4 at significantly lower cost.
I respectfully disagree. This bike is NOT the same as the Giant Talon 4. When you look at the two bikes in person, the Talon has a much better feel and you can tell it's a better quality bike. The Talon also has a better and modern 1 X drivetrain.
The Aggressor Pro has lots of bad reviews, all with the same complaints. Not sure if that's a quality issue with the bike or just poor assembly by Dicks. At least with the Talon, you know it was properly assembled and most LBSs will include your first time up for free.
