Would this be a good monitor for PS5 I've been trying to find an HDMI 2.1 compatible monitor but have been a bit out of luck with deals, any suggestions?
This monitor doesn't support HDMI 2.1, otherwise, it's a terrific monitor. I have the 34GP83A, which is basically the same monitor.

That may be true but I was using DisplayPort and I could not get a number of older games (1998 to 2007) to work on a 34" Samsung monitor. I just switched to HDMI 2.0 and they all played perfectly. I have no explanation for that. Also I am not sure that DP beats HDMI 2.0 and if it does in fact beat HDMI 2.0 then whether there is a noticeable difference.

Is this a current deal? The Alienware
No it's long gone. But knowing Dell and being an older model, together with less demand on WFH, the deal can come back any time but don't quote on me on any of these crystal ball questions lol.

Just for reference, last time it was $610, but with 10% maillist coupon, then AMEX offer took off another $120, and CB from your favorite site( or just use SD's portal), I ended up being tad over $400 OTD for me, for an IPS 34" UW 120hz monitor, I say not bad.

Ahh okay, thanks for the detail. Been only recently shopping for a gaming screen. Looking at what they have now the 34" OLED(?) and the larger IPS, but both are way out of my budget!

AMEX barely covers the tax on it. Should probably hold out for BF.

You are not going to see much discount on either of them honestly. 38" UW is such a niche and AW3423DW barely stays in stock until lately. One alternative is getting a 48" OLED TV/Monitor, they have been way cheaper than these UW and you can always black bar top and bottom to have a UW experience less the curve of course

Pretty much just shooting for some good CB offer or something, but yeah you're right.

I'm using a 43" TCL 4k screen now, and the picture is good, but I'm just tired of dealing with a TV for a monitor. The annoyances with sleep/turning off/on, volume, etc. Want to just have a nice gaming screen that will last me a long time.

Keep an eye on this one, it was as low as $800 after MIR I believe, and the deal comes back periodically. It's the exact same panel as LG C1 but in a monitor suite. I almost made the purchase but decide to wait for the 42" C2. If you can handle 48" it's a no brainer imo.

I second this recommendation. Pick up the 48" OLED by LG if you can fit it. i recently bought the 42" C2 because that's what I can fit in my bedroom, but ultimately decided to return it for the high $1400 I bought it for and ordered the $800 48" and deal with trying to fit it.
I also own the 34GP83A LG which is the equivalent to this deal. Best set up is an ultra wide monitor for e-sports and productivity, work and excel sheets, and the LG OLED as your 2nd monitor for AAA single player games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3, console gaming, etc. If you can only have one screen, I would pick the 48" OLED for $800. if you have money for a LG C2 or Alienware OLED, it's better to buy this deal and a 48" OLED for the same amount of money.

Very nice monitor with excellent color. My only complaints are unusable HDR, only one DisplayPort connection and low contrast compared to OLED. It does have a couple HDMI but they don't support the full refresh rate.

I believe G sync only works over DisplayPort

whats so good about this monitor?

I got the 34" VA gigabyte for $299 and very happy with the deep blacks. Are people really paying $600-$1000 for IPS glow? and its only rated at 400 nits...i am very glad VA cost way less because i cant stand IPS glow in black scenes,

I bought this monitor last year for around $800 on Amazon. It has all the features you could ask for in a gaming monitor. I use it mostly for work and the size/ultra wide is a dream for productivity especially large excel spreadsheets.

For gaming specifically, the issue is I have an 65 LG OLED as well. And once you use oled for gaming, you don't really want to go back - picture quality wise (colors specifically) games always look better on oled. I have a gtx 3090 that can take full advantage of the gsync/frame rate this monitor provides but OLED still looks better to me PQ wise.

Once the Alienware oled monitor gets in the 800-1000 range I'll buy that and use this as a good backup

Where'd you find it at that price? Can't find it lower than $377 at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-G...C83&sr=8-1

If you can resell the speaker locally for like $100 it's not a bad deal tbh. But the AW3420 deal combined with Dell AMEX offer and CB portal really spoiled me
Where is the AW3420?
