Now are there any sub-$100 LGA 1700 motherboards that aren't garbage?
I wouldn't expect any sub 100 until black Friday or refurbished. It's hard to recommend the 1700 platform unless you absolutely need to upgrade. The life of it seemly is already decided (13 Gen is rumored to be the last) and Intel just gouging for chipset upgrades. If DDR5 is coming down, I just wait for AMDs new platform if ya can.
Right now the issue is supply as the 700 series motherboards are coming out at the end of next month. I don't know if there are ever going to be decent B (or H for that matter) boards for a while.

intel motherboards always only last 2 cpu generations
Oh understood (though some do go 3) but with the entry prices of MBs nulling the savings of a good proc and AMDs right around the corner, better life cycle, less expensive entry to boards ...AMD just seems like a better choice unless you have a need for an Intel feature. I got 12th Gen...but I had nothing before that and I couldn't wait. heh.
Plus I really needed thunderbolt 4. Like really bad. That was my only concern really.

Edit: Nvm, just noticed it's 1700 so I'd need a new board too
