Noticed recently that my (problem free) 3Tb RAID-1 pair had >90,000 hours of power-on time. Picked up a pair of these so the old drives can gracefully retire to cold storage.

For those who might not know the lineup:

WD Red = cheaper SMR drives, generally not good choice for RAID / heavy transfer loads. 180Tb/yr rating. 3-year warranty.

WD Red Plus = The "old" red drives, still using CMR. May be 5xxx or 7200 RPM. 180Tb/yr rating. 3-year warranty.

WD Red Pro = CMR, 7200 rpm, 300Tb/yr rating. 5-year warranty.

Not bad. According to Amazon price history it's lowest ever was $99. So this is only $10 above it's cheapest price

Ca*melCa*mel is inaccurate.
For example, it didn't capture $205 for 16TB WD RED Pro sale couple weeks ago.

Anyone get the 4TB retail package from B&H recently? I'm wondering if they have the 64MB cache as listed, or 128MB cache (WD40EFRX or WD40EFZX).

My friend bought B&H WD red plus 4tb HD's and all his shows 128mb cache. YMMV.

Ordered this morning, just received same day service from Amazon. This doesn't come with hard drive screws, so I just slid it into the hard drive bay and connected the SATA and power cables and booted up to configure the drive.

So now I have to order hard drive screws that comes in hundred packs.
