The j7+ is the best Roomba, and $650 is about the best price i've seen with the auto-empty base. The j7 has a camera and AI which avoids pet waste and cords. The + means it includes an auto-empty base. It includes a guarantee that it won't run over pet waste.

The i7+ is not as good; it bangs against things quite a lot and if you have a pet, it's a real problem if it ever runs over pet waste. Basically ruins the vac.
Ebay has the i7+ refurbished from the manufacturer irobot with a 2 year warranty from Allstate for 474.99 minus the 20% coupon SUMMER20SAVE. Comes out just over 400 with taxes where I am. Only comes with the power supplies and suction base station, no other accessories.

What made the i7+ a no-go for me was a 10/1/2019 vacuum wars video review. The i7 has low 7 cfm airflow. Others in the comparison, Shark IQ and Roomba S9, run around 20 cfm. The i7 had trouble picking up sand/dirt on hardwood floors.
FWIW, my i8+ does not have any issue picking up things from hardwood floors. Wish it did a bit better navigating under chairs, but I'm not sure any robot vac will do that perfectly.

How does this compare to the i4+ at 399?

I have the Roomba S9+ and it's terrible. Can't wait until it breaks and I can switch to a RoboRock.

It takes 5-6h to vacuum what the upstairs Roborock S5 can do in less than an hour.

It goes over the same spot multiple times, and is often found just bashing into a wall it wants to be on the other side of. This runtime is my biggest peeve, especially WFH and it drones all day long.

I have it vacuum the 8x6 spot around the pet bowls daily. The box it vacuums changes, it's drifting over the kitchen.

It gets stuck more than RoboRock and when you flip it over to remove a tangled cable it start repeating "empty the bin", even when I have a self emptying version. Why don't you go back to the dock? Why do I have to manually empty you?

Of course the RoboRock goes on a VLAN cos I don't trust it. But aside from that, plus the issue I have with the Brava mop undocking/wheel wear, I'm not buying iRobot ever again.

Got the shark AI self empty xl for $400 last BF. Quite happy with it. It did run over some poop last month though which was a bummer. That would be the one advantage of the j7+. Also I've heard the app is better.

What I would like to know - when is the Roomba j7+ (or perhaps j8+ (Costco version of j7)) going to be sold at Costco in the States ??
The j7+ is currently being sold in Canada:

https://www.costco.ca/irobot-room...10301.html

I suppose only someone with internal access to Costco purchasing would know.

I think I got a j7+ from a Amazon freight palette seller for like $400 absurdly cheap to pass up

3rd party bags and accessories all work the same

Haven't had issues with it having fakes not working

Pro tip - don't poop on your floor.
