The QHD version of this just went on sale for $1,299 a couple of days ago... There's no way we are going back to FHD at this price point!
165hz at QHD beats 300hz at FHD any time... I don't know of many current gen games that will hit 165 frames at QHD anyway... My guess is the QHD panel probably has a resolution mode available in FHD that's close to 300Hz...
Oh, my point is that all games will reach higher fps at FHD vs QHD. Jarrod's videos show that a laptop 3070 at QHD will push same or worse fps than a 3060 at FHD on average.

Of course you can use use DLSS if it was Nvidia but with AMD you are limited to FSR.

Nothing wrong with QHD, I just don't see any use for it in 15"....

Maybe somebody can chime in on how well FHD looks on this display. My usual experience always brings scaling or ghosting issues.

There is if you want better fps.... That said the QHD version is hopefully more refined than the old one....

I went with the L5P and I'm LOVING it. I've never had an HDR screen before and it POPS in The Division 2 and Doom Eternal. The speed, build, size, and darn near everything about it is absolutely fantastic. I put 32GB of Timetec RAM in (dual ranked 3200MHz) and it runs like a champ.

I'd argue that DLSS and FSR don't make much sense unless you are aiming for 4K or 1440p. 1440p is good to have for video editing and general purpose browsing and reading. Now, when you connect the laptop to an external monitor those come in handy, especially since you will be gaining an average of 10% more FPS by disabling the iGPU in the Ryzen CPU.

Yea I do this myself with this exact laptop(the FHD one). You can see some pretty big performance gains hooking up to an external monitor.

I have one of them and got it when it first dropped. It's the liquid metal cooling. I heard some of them were applied badly and that caused them to leak and caused issues for them so they returned them. Thankfully, the one I got didn't have any of those issues so I'm really happy with it but I did see a few people who had that issue online.

Im not sure why anyone would do 1440p on a 15" screen. Do they just like hotter laptops and lower frame rates? and for the record, 1440p doesnt scale to 1080p perfectly

Bought one of these 10 months ago for my 13 year old son. It's getting shipped in for repairs soon as school starts back. The A key fell/broke off, headphone jack quit, charging port only works if you hold the plug in place or tie a string around it to keep constant sideways pressure.
This is a kids gaming laptop so take this however you choose

If you had the exact same specs in two computers (except screen)…

One with QHD at 165hz
One with FHD at 300Hz

Wouldn't the FHD perform better than the QHD? Higher res looks better, but cause less performance right? Plus at 15" isn't FHD plenty good?

I've had this laptop since release, to replace my old GTX 1080 desktop. Zero complaints. It's docked most of the time pushing a QHD display.
