Lifespan of batteries are limited, so there's a trade-off from the reduced price of the refurbished products. Batteries represent a significant portion of cost so there's some risk the refurbished batteries are short lived and not providing the range and power expected.

I have a simple goal, get around 20mph so humans cant chase me down, and more than enough range (36v 10-15AH or 48v 10ah).
Prius is basically an electrical car with a small battery (and engine to change the battery). Toyota is playing the game the right way. They will go EV when people are ready.
Toyota/Lexus have sold over 200k EV vehicles and tax rebates will be fading. Just an FYI if anyone is interested.
self driving technology is not new, we could have had it 10 years ago. so it's not that the technology is not ready it's that the system is not ready for it. the legislative branch and infrastructure is so behind on this that i don't expect any big improvements in the next 5 years (may be some local small scale implementation, that's about it) in the US.
as for Toyota and Nissan, they already have EV (hybrid) and they are well positioned to take advantage of the market when the market is ready for 100% EV. despite of how tempting EV is, it still has a lot of disadvantages (price, charging stations, distance limitations, fast charging . . . ).
as for china, their advantage is long-term government planing, and low cost. this model has worked well for them in the last 30 years, they will do the same and dominate everything unless we sanction them economically (tariffs) or political (software security).
as for the 70k miles, a prius can avarage +200k before needing a new battery and can run for +300k . from $ stand point you will have to run tesla for 500k to breakeven (that is if you never have to change the battery). if you like tesla, cool ; but if you are looking for the biggest band per mile for your $ - tesla is not it. focus on math, not feelings.

you can tell that this "re-manufactured" bike is missing a lot of parts that the costco one has. additional differences could be not so obvious until 6 months down the line.
I also would not recommend this bike to anybody over ~5 foot 10 inches. It's fairly small and looks / feels like you're riding a children's bike, so if you're tall it will be very uncomfortable.
EDIT: A few more comments - the "folding" aspect is a joke, the handlebar just folds down but the rest of the bike is still just as big. Also I have never reached even close to that 30 mile range, much closer to 10 miles even when I first got it.
