I don't know where you got that idea. Base iPad is refreshed every year, but mini never gets as much attention -- it was refreshed last year with a new design, 5th generation was released in 2019, and 4th gen was in 2015 (link [wikipedia.org]). What makes you think Apple wants to update the mini?

It does include AppleCare (from the purchase date). I think you're misunderstanding AppleCare with AppleCare+

When Best Buy has "Eligible for AppleCare protection" on an item, it is referring to the option to purchase additional coverage, and not just the standard 1yr Apple warranty that is included.

I assumed the previous poster was just copying Best Buy's lingo without including the "+" since they don't. Hope that clarifies.

I still own the 4th gen and waiting for a proper mini with mini-led and no jelly scroll.

Apple has said the new line will be the "most significant upgrades to date". I guess we shall see.
