Deal HistoryÂ
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
It's full AndroidTV. Meaning that it has the Playstore, Google assistant, and can also side load apps very easily
Remote is very good, except for the dedicated Netflix, etc. buttons (I don't care for those)
I haven't used it for gaming tho
I've had it for about 1 year and also have a Chromecast with remote. They're basically the same thing. For the price, I'd go for this anytime, I've seen them new at Walmart for $15. Price new is $20.
I would stay away from the Fire sticks, tv, etc. (unless you're really invested in that ecosystem)
And in haven't really used a RokuTV, but I can't see how it would be better than this, specially with the AndroidOS backing it
It doesn't state that the VIPoutlet listing is refurbished, but is it safe to assume it's a refurb? If that's the case, I'd rather pay the extra $4 to get it directly from Walmart.

It's VIP Outlet who the heck knows what happened behind closed doors to these products or if they are just refurbished.
You're worried about an adulterated $14 streaming box? 🤣 They had 1200+ available when this was posted. They are liquidating them from Walmart. VIP outlet has never given me any issues with returns and refund if something isn't as advertised.
Maybe the HDD needs more power, try a powered USB hub
i use Y splitter and power one end of the usb port, i feel the hdd rotating, but still not working, partition 1TB as exFat recognized fine in linux but not this Onn device

Have one of these. They work great most of the time. But like someone else said, the remotes are prone to disconnecting. When it happens, it's annoying, but you can control it with your phone even if that happens. Is it ideal? No. But it's $14 ($20 MSRP) so whatever. It play background noise on a second monitor while I'm at work and another one gets thrown in a bag and goes on trips with me. I don't think I'd use one of these as my primary TV watching device, but for my needs, it's cheap and works.

I replaced all my old firesticks with this, The fire UI is getting out of hand with the ads and horrendous lag. With these I can install FLauncher and only put the apps my kids/in-laws need. The only thing I miss from the firestick is the remote.
I grabbed one. I had the misfortune of buying one of the TCL Google TVs a few months ago because it was on a deal. It is the slowest piece of garbage I've ever owned. This HAS to be better.
Any recommended Android boxes that can easily stream Plex servers, and 12 bit anime, and a Yuzu switch emulator.
I don't want to spend $200,
But I would like the option to install different custom android roms on it from the community.
Also, is

Is there an easy way to turn this into a dumb device - remove play store, other apps and just have it work as a device that can read off an external drive and play stuff directly from attached storage?

external storage devices have to be fat32 to be recognized

You'll want to get an OTG cable and a 256GB USB 3 Flash drive too.

Their regular non-4K stick is regularly this price and is not desirable.
