It does "lock" when not running, so it can be used like a regular screwdriver. In other words, once the screw needs more oomph than what this will put out, you just finish it by hand.

What are some pros and cons for each of the two?
Just one speed, but has been working great for 2 years now. Only downside I could think of is the micro usb charging port.
