Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

4a user here. Using it since I got it after launch in 2020. Almost 2 years on this phone and no issue at all. I dont see a big upgrade from 4a to 6a. Camera is still same except battery is bigger than 4a. Screen size is not an issue for me. I prefer smaller screen. I will wait to see the next pixel before jumping on it.
I am in the same boat and 4a is on my secondary phone and I don't use it as much. However, I think I will go for it for additional years of software support. After counting free ear buds the upgrade cost is less than $100 on upgrade, which is pretty reasonable given how expensive everything else is these days.

What happens to the trade in refund if you return the Pixel 6a back to Google? Will this be given as a Google store credit? And can it then be used to purchase a Pixel 7?

Can someone please confirm if the 6a's USB-C can use a headphone dongle? A Previous poster posted a phone comparison that looked like it cannot output audio.
Yes it does but you need a dac cable. I have a pixel 6 and ordered a cheap $3 Usb-c to 3.5mm cable off ebay that wouldn't work. I then tried a $7 dac supported cable from Amazon; it works fine.
Item number on Amazon is B099FFTVRN. Looks like the price is up to $9 now but I can confirm that it works with the Aux input in my old Jeep.

Does anybody know what happens to the device or credit if later you return the 6a after receiving it?

Edit: found "If you return the phone you bought with your trade-in, you'll receive the trade-in value as a Google Store credit in your account."
Where did you find this ? How does it work? If Google issues the trade in credit as refund to your card, and then you return the Pixel 6a?

Are there any restocking fees for Google returns?

Wife has an original Motorola Edge. Anyone know if this is an upgrade or more of a side grade? The only real difference I can see is the Edge has a 90Hz OLED and is slightly bigger. Is the Tensor that much of an upgrade over the Snapdragon 765G?
Not a huge upgrade in terms of processor, but you'll get actual updates and a significantly better camera. Those are two things i really care about.

I have a phone that turns on, but the screen stays black. It's not eligible for trade in right?

FWIW, before purchase I upgraded my $3/month Google One Plan to the $10/month plan, clicked through the store link on the Google One benefits site, and 10% store credit ($44.90) showed in both my cart and my order confirmation.

Hopefully getting $295 for an old 128GB iPhone 7+ via trade in.

I would avoid that hassle and just get an official adapter:
Google adapter (no charging) $12:
https://store.google.com/us/produ...r?hl=en-US

Google USB digital audio adapter with charging ($40):
https://store.google.com/us/produ...r?hl=en-US

There's also third party adapters that will work so long as they have DAC support built-in. Samsung and Apple are top mentions. I'm sure there are other brands on Amazon that are cheap that work also which even support USB charging.

I think people who are trashing this deal are missing the point of this deal. You're upgrading from a 3a or 4a to a 6a so that in the future you can trade in the 6a to a better Pixel phone, and you're getting $300 credit for a 2 year old phone. If you don't get that... well, then you probably never will. Have a nice day.

Does anyone know if you can setup the trade for a phone, but possibly change it to a different model still on their list later? I recently moved, and can't find my box with my old Pixel 3a with a cracked screen, but I currently have a perfectly fine Samsung s10e. I'd prefer to trade the 3a, but not sure if I'll be able to find it. I don't want to pass up trading the s10e though if I can't find the 3a. So, anyone know could I go through the checkout process with trading the 3a then swap it later?
I think you have the option to cancel the order before it is prepared for shipping.

So, might consider ordering 2 with different trade in and you may have the next few days to try to find the phones you want to trade in and then cancel the other before they are preparing to ship.

Anyone knows if Google has a RESTOCKING fee on returns? I'm guessing they only allow 14 days to return the phone.

I have the p6pro its the best phone i have ever owned the fp works like 100%

The camera is light yrs ahead of other phones
i am 200% satisfied

the only problem i have with 6A is that they using the same old camera and using the new tensor chip which to me isnt particularly appealing. the camera should be kept the same as 6

My 6Pro's front facing camera is horrible in low light... how do you like that ?

Don't trade in Pixel 4a for this. Get a Pixel 3a for trade-in. 4A is still good and get unlimited photos/videos backup to Google Photos
that's a good idea, but I think everyone has the same plan, so all the pixel 3a's out there are being bought up, and buying used phones is always a big gamble, even from reputable sites.
