Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

6 pro owner. It happens even as i walk around my house on my mesh wifi, i have to drop and go to guest wifi again or airplane mode and go back. Super annoying for teams/webex calls for work, i get disconnected if i walk around, not even mobile data but my own wifi!
Interesting, I have never had to do this in 7 months of owning a P 6 pro. Not at home as I walk between 3 access points or noticed anything when out the house. I may also be one of the lucky ones where the FP works 98% of the time but sometimes a little slow. Like instead of as soon as I put my finger on it it opens, to leaving it for .25 of a second.

Just wondering, can you get the buds free by buying and returning the phone?

Just to make sure, if the trade in value we get is lower and some garbage value, we can always ask for the phone back AND return the Pixel 6a as well right?
while trade in you have to choose that whether you will accept their new trade in value ( reduced) after they receive you old phone. or you want them to send back the device if device is found not meeting their expectation.

That's exactly how I did it. Credit showed up on the checkout page is $44.90. says it will get applied after 30 days for a future purchase
What is it that you did specifically? Made an order, received a message that you will get credit in 30 days, cancelled the order and made a new one? And the 2nd order applied the credit?
Because I think thats what @samdiv was implying to have happened

Is it possible to order multiple trading in cracked 3a's, return the phones, and keep the trade in value as store credit?

FYI - I was quoted $295 trade-in credit for my pixel 3a with cracked screen at Google 🙂 and got the free pixel buds. feels like a heck of a deal to me!

edit- I purchased unlocked without a Google Fi plan
Does your screen have to work for the trade-in credit? Mine is cracked and screen won't display anything, so I can't even do factory reset to it unless I do it blindly. I know phone is still working since I can still access it when plugged into my computer.

It's quite dumb that there isn't a factory reset button like with many electronic devices out there.

Did exactly same deal here, have a screen cracked but functional Pixel 3a which I bought from best buy as Open Box for $200 (Purchased in offer for $300 with $100 BB E-Gift card).
If I get $295 from Google, they are giving me more than I paid after 2.5 years of usage.
Same, I took my case off my pixel 3a a couple months ago because its an older phone and didn't like the case on it ( bought it for $300 two years ago). I have dropped it a few times without the case and no issues. About two weeks ago I had it in my lap and stepped out of my car, fell to the ground and had a crack on it across. This trade in is giving me an estimated $295??? Thats a no brainer.

Can I do 2 separate orders for 2 phones for my household on one account? Or do I need to purchase the second phone on the other person's Google account?

When I tried to add a second phone to my one order, pretty sure I got a message that the deal only applied to the first phone.

I keep reading about the bad finger print sensor..... Don't use it then. A code works fine.

No wifi/calling issues.

Only issue I have with my P6 is during boot the Google symbol isnt colored (it used to be) and only on this website it loads blank sometimes until you swipe down and then the page shows up ( brave browser)

This is the perfect deal, especially in my scenario. I have an original pixel that I can still transfer photos to for the unlimited storage and I can trade in my 4a for essentially 2 more years of updates and a new battery.

I'm skeptical that it will be a better phone overall. Not thrilled about the fingerprint reader. I don't care for the size either, the 4a is the perfect size.

5g will be nice! HYPED!
