Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

i have a mint condition pixel 3a XL and on the fence about trade-in. i'd hate to downgrade in physical size (i know it's similar screen size but am i the only person in the world to like bezels?!?), but it would be super nice to futureproof some with more ram and 5G capability.

i still use wired headphones daily on my pixel 3a XL. does the 6a come with an adapter for wired headphones? i think older pixel phones used to come with an adapter. if i find one, can that adapter be used with the 6a?
Unless the headphone you use is super branded expensive one, there is no reason to stick to 3.5 anymore.. besides you are getting pixel buds with the phone to replace headphones..

I ordered the one that Google sells for $12 since I still occasionally used wired ear buds (coming from a Pixel 4A).

Google USB-C to 3.5mm

Apple and Samsung's adapters are also highly rated/recommended.

Apple's is $9 and has free shipping:

Samsung's is $14.99 and out of stock so not sure if they do free shipping:

It looks like you can pick them up at Best Buy etc.

And of course you can find them on Amazon. I would just make sure that they are compatible with the Pixel 6. They need built-in DAC or they won't work - you'll find a lot of complaints where people said they couldn't find one that worked with the Pixel 6 because they ordered ones that didn't have DAC built-in... so for me it was just a lot easier to order from one of the major reputable brands.

People who don't have newer car stereos like myself prefer a headphone jack to plug into the aux and go.

It's a hassle to turn on a BT adapter and connect ect. Plus now with these phones you have to have an dongle to even use aux.

Just in time as my 3a XL has been feeling sluggish the past few months, anyone else have a similar experience with their 3a?

I have a OnePlus 8 5G from T-Mobile. Can this be used for a full value trade in? I think that it is set to T-Mobile, but I can wipe out all of the data on the phone.

Regarding the Google One 10% credit, so if I were to return the device to change my colour for example, I'd still get the credit? It just has to be after the ship date?

>> If a return request has been filed between transaction and ship date, then the Store Credit will not be issued

By the time you find out whether you got the full trade in value, it'll likely be over the 30 day return period. Basically you are screwed if there's any problem with the trade. I'll reiterate take a video of the condition of the phone you are trading in to document its condition, also go to the serial number/model section to verify that's your phone, as you may need to fight to get the full trade in value.
I did all that last time in 2020 when Google had the Pixel 4a 5g deal and I send in an iPhone.
They gave me $30 (instead of $280) for the iPhone in mint condition. Just saying that it was an incorrectly reported phone model. They didn't even look at the pictures and videos and just said Hyla decides the values and they can't do anything. I spend months arguing and opening case tickets, but they did not budge.

The Trade in is strictly a YMMV. And not being able to return the phone without a restocking fee is another problem.

Samsung Pay was awesome when the phones still had the MST feature. Not sure if its worth it otherwise though.
Sadly, Walmart and Home Depot block the mst method.

So my Pixel 3a screen is not only cracked but badly shattered. It still works and I can factory reset it though. Would the trade in still be accepted since it turns on with full reset?
When I did the trade-in, I selected the options 1) phone turns on, 2) screen cracked or not functional. The full value trade-in for a non-cracked screen is $300. Cracked screen is $292.50. Go for it.

Besides the camera (lower megapixel but apparently better pictures) and annual security updates is this really an upgrade over the OnePlus 6T (e.g., which has 8GB RAM vs 6GB in the 6a, and CPU speed bump in the 6a is not really appreciable compared to the 6T).
