Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

Coincidentally, I also didn't set up my Pixel 3a - which I got as a backup phone, - until after a year of buying it. My Pixel 3a doesn't have this issue.

In regards to the trade-in, if you charge the phone to full, turn it off, leave it alone for several days, and then turn it on, at approximately what percentage does the battery show? How many minutes will it last before its battery dies?

Good luck,
Tofu Vic
I've never really kept close tabs. Even when it's charged up to 80-100% then turned off, it never seems to power back on after 3-4 days max...as if it keeps running on battery saver mode or something. I guess I'll experiment with the battery cycle in the next week and try to time my shipment at the beginning of the week! Still, I don't think it's going to hold up by the time they get their hands on it.

I got the Poetic Revolution from Amazon. Going to review sites it was highly recommended. I read a lot of reviews and it seems like it can protect from drops unlike a ton of other cases. They also make the Guardian case which has roughly the same protection and has a nicer aesthetic (but no kickstand). The case also has a built-in screen protector and it comes with another front piece without a screen protector if you want to use your own.
Ill probably buy the OEM case using part of the $44 from the 10% credit. Everything in general on Google store is horribly overpriced.

Just received my phone and the "Fingerprint issue" (not speed related) is confirmed for me. I only have 1 thumb registered yet I'm able to unlock with my other thumb

EDIT: Day 1 update resolved this issue and have not had this issue since.

Let's talk case, not sure if this was previously discussed, what case ya'll buying for this phone?
I bought the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case from eBay [ebay.com] for $14.99 with free shipping, as sold directly by the manufacturer Spigen.

I test and use a lot of smartphone cases, and rank them regularly [google.com].

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

I think you're overthinking this. It'll be fine.

I got my first one (black) today. looks okay. I have registered thumb and index finger. I could able to get in with my middle finger (unregistered). Hope Google will fix it soon.
it seems Google Play update in settings menu fixed finger print issue. I am not able to duplicate the problem after the update. It is not system update.

32gb iPhone 6s trade-in went from $110 yesterday to $5 today 😂
Normally TIV only lasts for the pre-order period. You'll have to wait for the Pixel 7 or 7a now.

Actually, I don't, I already had my trade-in price locked in, was just laughing at the disparity between the pre-order window and now.

FEDEX SUCKS

They were suppose to deliver today and I did the signature release online.

It was "out for delivery" at first, but now they're telling me there was a delay and I have to go pick it up... and they say "Your package requires a signature for delivery.".

Guess I will go pick it up... and pick up Chipotle while I'm over there.... but I shouldn't be having to waste my time and gas.....

You dodged a bullet IMO. Over the years, only FedEx packages have been lost (three in total in six years, but it still sux.), and they were all in situations with no signature required. They have a habit of delivering to the wrong house, and the putting you on a goose chase to find your own stuff before they file a claim. Happened at my parents home and my current home.

The last mis-delivered package was a Pixel 4a from holiday season 2020. House number delivered to was off by one decade.

As sh!tty as it is, I would rather get it from a Walgreens or delivery hub than deal with the misdelivered package claim process.

Yeah, guess it could be worse. I haven't picked it up yet so it still isn't in my hands though.... we'll see... will be picking it up soon. Sorry FedEx has been so bad to you.... fortunately most of my deliveries are Amazon or UPS or USPS and few come FedEx... although usually FedEx is decent when I do get something from them.

Just got mine in the mail and set it up. I went from a 4a to this.

It's WORSE than my 4a! The camera is slow and more artifacts appear in the image. And the fingerprint reader does work poorly.

Worst of all, it immediately gets very hot! So hot in fact that it refused to let me use the camera again because "device is too hot."

F this phone, I'm returning immediately and sticking with my 4a.
