Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

One of my three phones showed up today. The two from Google on this deal (for me and my wife) FedEx showed this morning they'd delivery today but now it's tomorrow (which was the original delivery date) The third one from T-Mobile arrived today. Waiting to set that one up until the cases and screen protector shows because he'll destroy that bad bit without it. Lol

T-Mobile we ordered before I saw this deal. We're supposed to get it for free via 24 month bill credits. Sort of a long story on that one. We were porting out a line on our grandfathered family plan so I activated a new line and they said I could get a free phone. Totally wasn't expecting it since really the "new" line is just a replacement for the one we lost in the port so we don't lose the simple choice family plan, but whatever.

Not sure if there is a way to search in a thread, but not finding much info.

I went ahead and went with the Google One 10% cash back thinking it was straight cash back, but now I realize I got $40 of google store credit. Is there any slickdeal out there for how to use it? It seems like it's only good for actual hardware purchases to the store, so I can't use it for google movies or apps or anything.

I guess I could just buy a case from the store, or maybe get some new google home products. Wait and see if anything goes on sale probably..

Just got the 6a and transferred my data over from a 3a XL, so far not liking the new swipe back gesture. On the 3a XL there was a dedicated in-screen back button on the bottom of the screen. More work just to go back to previous scree now.

I don't like Gesture Navigation either, and have changed it back to the previous navigation style on the last few phones I bought.

Instructions to switch to the 3-button navigation style:
  1. Open Settings app
  2. System > Gestures > System Navigation
  3. Select "3-button navigation"
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Yeah I did the same thing for my older phone. That's the good thing with Android it's highly customizable. And often you can get prior behaviors that were changed back in some way.

Any phone is going to be hot during setup/updates etc. Aka intensive tasks. The day one update for the phone is being pushed out today which brings lots of fixes and improvements.

https://9to5google.com/2022/07/28...6a-update/

Android 13 releases next month more than likely which brings tons of improvements / fixes and new features also. People from the beta program noted battery / modem improvements and running cooler off the top of my head.
That's a security update. The article says nothing about "lots of fixes and improvements"

Any recommendations for a screen protector that works with the fingerprint reader? I'm guessing its too early to tell as not many have had a chance to try it out yet.
